Some people do but it's not common. The baby boomers were forced by their parents to eat organ meat, sometimes cause it was cheap, sometimes cause they thought it might be good for you, and other times as a punishment. Both of my parents are really resentful about being made to eat cow liver as a kid. I know very few people who eat organ meat. Most of them will avoid organ meat from any animal, they see it as being related to poverty or foreign cultural practices.

All the time, I love organ meats in general.I've pretty much eaten everything on most domestic farm animals.

I'd like to start eating organ meats because they're more nutrient-dense, cheaper and better from a food-waste perspective but the ick factor is strong and I haven't been able to get over it.

Yup. Organs are great.

If you ever are in a survival situation, you'd better eat the organs too because plain old muscle tissue will not provide you with enough nutrients, like vitamin A.

It's pretty common 'round here. It gives me nausea.

Same with cow's liver, absolutely disgusting.

Yes, we have a lot of people of Caribbean descent here in Florida. They eat all kinds of stuff like that. I've really been wanting to try the curried goat that Jamaicans make but no restaurants.. I feel like I'm white enough that if I tried to make it at home, I'd fuck it up.

Nope not where I am from. We eat the liver though when its cooked properly

It tastes good
I don't like chicken liver, i toss it.
Don't you eat sheep brain & heart ?
i would understand if you don't fuck with the tongue (i don't either) but other than that i have no problem.

dunno, id eat anything as long as its safe and tasty

who putting the pooch on the barbie? im hoping for a nice bite.

( i love all animals equally. a cow is just as worthy as a dog)

Have you tried camel meat before?

I wonder if middle eastern markets in the US even carry this. I live How do you prepare camel?

I live in the most middle eastern American populated area in the country. I'm sure I can locate some.

I don't know how to prepare them. I just buy them ready

You have to try it if you're a meat lover

No but we used to have these disgusting cinnamon hearts around Valentine's Day growing up. I'm pretty sure they chicken hearts would taste better.

Also, do chicken hearts taste like chicken?

Have you guys ever try Korean BBQ? Cow liver and intestine are pretty common at most KBBQ joints here in LA. I tried it and it tastes pretty good if you grill it crispy and little charred and then dip it in their special sauce.

I shouldn't think this sounds gross since I love meat so much, but I just can't imagine purposely eating the organs. A chicken heart? No way.

In the South fried gizzards are a way life. Other than that when I roast a turkey or chicken I usually wind up boiling the neck and organs in a sauce pot to create a broth. After the bird is done I take the pan drippings, and make a roux from the fat. The roux goes into the broth to thicken into a proper gravy, and all the organs go into a food processor to give a bit of volume and flavor to the gravy.

The neck belongs to me to nibble on while I cook.

You can get hearts at any market in the US, but you'll rarely see it on a restaurant menu.

There's a Korean fried chicken joint that I go to that makes an awesome spicy fried gizzard w/ country gravy. So fucking good.

Meat rules:
1, You can only eat the muscle part of an animal.
2, The animal must have 4 legs.
3, The pieces of meat must be big enough to rule out dogs, cats or anything smaller.

Break these rules and this is why we have viruses like wu-flu.

How many legs do chickens have?

No, they're mushy, and taste different... it kind of reminds me of duck meat, though.
