I noticed that there seems to be a shortage of HDDs in the UK, but the Toys R Us nearby me in Vancouver has several available.

Anyone know if they'd work? and if so, any use for me buying a couple and selling them on?

I won't guarantee this, but I see no reason why it shouldn't work. Physically, it would be no different than plugging in a memory card or extra controller. The only thing I can think of that might not work is some of the preloaded material. Some of the videos might have DRM or region encoding. No big deal though.
