The first console I have not owned (so far). I am not opposed to it. I just didn't try too hard to get one at launch and now I feel less FOMO since it has passed. I finally grabbed a steam deck while I am contemplating my next direction with this hobby. If I come across a Switch 2 in the wild, I might grab it but for now I have the SD and the PS Portal as my current gen handhelds (excluding phone, ipad, ect.)

Yes, I pre-ordered it from GameStop and got it on launch day.

Not counting my backlog of Switch 1 games, I have:
Mario Kart World
Hogwarts Legacy
The Switch 2 Editions of both Zelda games

I also downloaded the Switch 2 patch for No Man's Sky and have been playing that a fair amount lately.

I have no plans to purchase a Switch 2, but if I do get one it won't be until there is a CFW exploit. Then, if there are enough games I want which justify the cost, I will get the Switch 2 so I can rip my own games. That's what I did with the OG Switch. I have found that I am less-and-less interested in Nintendo's lineup, so I may end up skipping the Switch 2 entirely. I have a gaming PC, a Nintendo Switch, a Steam Deck, and an ASUS ROG Ally. I am not currently lacking for games.

I have little doubt I'll get one down the line. Semi interested in the Bravely Default remaster but will need a few more exclusives that I want before pulling the trigger. No rush though, ideally I'll get one after they release a new revision and 3rd party ergonomic joycons are a thing. 🤞

Yes. Right now I'm actually playing Castlevania Advance collection on it. Circle of the Moon.
Never really thought the game was anything hard - but it's kicking my butt. I'm becoming so bad at action games... :(

Also playing Super Mario Odyssey. Rather early in the game, but enjoying finding all the hidden power moons and be amazed by the level design from time to time. :)

As a huge fan of Switch and who is deeply invested in its ecosystem my plan was to buy one day 1, no questions asked. But then my hype was deflated by the Direct reveal and the fact that third party opted for key cards. I'm also not interested in Mario Kart so no actual games to play at launch. So I held off on a purchase.

Then at launch it was revealed that Switch 2 has amazing BC (which I thought was gonna be poor) and basically every game in my collection getting huge upgrades, whether by patch or through hardware, so that put the Switch 2 back on my radar.

Then Nintendo did a deep dive on DK Bananza which looks frigging amazing and now my hype for Switch 2 is through the roof. Metroid Prime 4 is also around the corner, and first I planned to play it on OG Switch but now I want it day 1 on S2 for best possible performance. MP 4 is probably my most hyped game in a decade (Huge Prime fan).

Unfortunately I got hit with some unexpected financial issues so I had to divert funds to other stuff than a S2 so now I'm saving up again for a possible purchase this autumn. Or maybe winter depending how my economy looks. So maybe I'm back to playing Prime 4 on my Switch OLED.

Fuck me.

Nope.

But eventually I will.

A friend of mine visited me for a week and I played on the S2 for the first time. MKW is quite cool, I especially liked Knockout mode and how you race from Rainbow Road (for example) to a completely different track and stuff. Good shit, just not nearly enough to warrant a purchase of like € 500.

Let's see how Donkey pans out, let's see what other Nintendo only games come out this year. I have my Series X with an ever growing backlog to keep me busy.

Yes, after playing a bunch of Mario Kart and giving some old games a spin, I seem to have settled on plowing through Link's Awakening in handheld mode, on dungeon 4. You almost forget the game ever had performance issues. DK is on lock of course...

Bought one and still in the honeymoon phase. Been playing a lot of MKW online and Civ 7.

Most wanted game is the next Hyrule Warriors and then Pokémon, hyped for both if they are as good as Arceus and Age of Calamity,

Mario Kart World
BotW/TotK
Fast Fusion
Preordered DK

I'm also playing through a bunch of the games that got free upgrades, like Echoes of Wisdom, Mario Odyssey, 3D World + Bowser, and some games that run at a solid 60 now, like Bayonetta 3.

So far, the Switch 2 has been excellent. Even though there aren't many new games, it's still been one of my favorite launches in a while. It's so nice to play a bunch of games that ran shitty on Switch 1 at great performance now.

I think it was compared to Steam Deck, PS4 or Series S. If you get Cyberpunk 2077 you'll be playing with true power. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

This video came out today and compares Cyber Punk and No Man's Sky.

It's a good video. Guy admits that the S2 is a beast in regards to the little power the battery supplies it in handheld mode, but its doesn't seem fair to compare it to the Steam deck. Basically buy the S2 If you need your first party Nintendo games now, otherwise wait for the OLED version. But if Nintendo exclusives aren't mandatory for you, it seems like the Steam Deck OLED is the better handheld by a decent margin. If you play 100% docked, this post doesn't really apply to you.

The dude in that thumbnail is how I picture basically every person on GAF 😂

Yeah, I like it. Mario Kart is way better than clickbait YouTubers would have you think. DK looks awesome. And playing old games on it like smoother-running Switch stuff and GCN titles really helps fill the time between releases.

In the end all that matters to me are the games. And i have 0 interest in portable devices to play PC games.
I was just having fun with OH because he is a PC enthusiast.

I'll end up buying S2, but i'll wait for a revision. Nothing against people that buy consoles at launch, i just don't do that since PS3.

Mario Kart World is alright. Knockout mode is fun. A good thing because they fucked up the normal races and GP.
Splatoon 3 disappoints me with the very noticeable input lag on the right stick. Can't stand playing like that. They really should enable mouse controls.
Zelda TotK is pretty meh. Reusing the same world was a big mistake. And the new mechanics somehow make the broken weapons feel even worse and tedious than before.

Can't wait for DK.

I got the Mario Kart bundle after that Donkey Kong direct. Plus a couple of 256GB memory cards. Which are needed so that I can download a bunch of my Switch games onto my Switch 2.

While I wait for Donkey Kong Bananza, I just continue to play my Switch games, but now on Switch 2. Some Xenoblade Chronicles X, some Advance Wars. Plus I guess I will take the time to check out some of my other favorite Switch games, just to see how they run on my Switch 2.

Yes

MKWorld
Cyberpunk 2077

Technically BOTW and TOTK but they were free
Why are those free?

Is that something that switch online and expansion pack give away?

I got one at launch, and got MKW bundle and a few months back I purchased both Zelda games, and on launch bought the upgrades, I think they were cheaper that way.

I been going through the eshop, and nothing appeals to me, I will watch the direct of bananza, but it looks pretty stupd to me.

I'm good for the time being. Mario Kart and Donkey Kong are games I'd buy if some other title(s) had sold me day one. And I'm not buying any third party titles on it because I have Steam and PS5 for that. Plus I'm waiting for the OLED revision ( would be a bitch if last gen sat us up for that expectation and Nintendo swerves and doesn't do it this time around). There's gonna be a revision one way or another, even if it's just a better battery and an improved LCD screen ( I have a Legion Go and that screen is fantastic).

I do and am enjoying Cyberpunk more than before! I'm definitely impressed.

I also really like digging through Switch backward compatibility.

It's pure gaming, no fucking around 👍

Going to wait for the OLED version.
No I'll wait for the emulator.

i only have an OG switch 1 that i bought back in 2017... so getting a switch 2 was a no brainer. i can still play all my old games and give away my old switch (or make it a homebrew machine)

Same. Trying to figure out what to do with my OLED Switch. Might just end up being a YouTube machine to help me get through games.

Yep. Have about 2 hours in MKW and about 15 hours in TotK. All connected to a 77" oled. About to go on a trip so I'll put hand held to the test.

To my delight I noticed my 20W iPhone USB C charger was enough to charge the device while playing (granted it was Windwaker but still). So there's a tip for you.

No, I'll get one but I'm past the release day FOMO thing with new consoles, particularly these days of hunting for preorders against bots and people with nothing better to do. I'll hang back and wait until there are more games and I can walk into a shop and buy one.

Since I play my Switch mainly in portable mode and I'm a bit of a screen snob (I can live with LCD but it has to be a good one), the reports about the Switch 2 screen have me wondering whether I should wait for an OLED model or even a stealth revision with a better LCD panel anyway.

Got one and very happy about it. I think I'm one of the few ones that think the screen is fine and games look good on it.

I mainly play in portable mode.

You're not alone. I love the screen. The blacks aren't as black as OLED, but that's really about the OLED's only advantage.

EDIT- I will say I'm playing more in docked than I expected to, which prompted me to buy a new TV. Nintendo's good for the economy.

Yes

I didn't want one but they had one in stock at Target so I decided to just grab it.

Have Mario Kart but mostly have used it to play Zelda.

The only way I would be mildly interested in getting one wouls be if they released a console only version with a pretty low cost.

I have no interest in handheld gaming and will not pay for battery/screen that I will never use.

So, yeah, I don't have any plan to get one.
