Do you consider the DKC trilogy very hard?

If people find DKC games hard, how is it surprising that Metroid Prime 4 got simplified like it did?

Yoshi's Island is way harder than anything the DKC trilogy ever throws at you, and its special levels are literal abuse. When I replayed the level "Kamek's Revenge" last year, I exhausted my repertoire of swear words. And that was using savestates. I did it legit as a kid, and I really can't figure out how now.

They all start off simply enough but get increasingly hard as they go along. 1 is probably the easiest of the trilogy, with 3 being the hardest. 2 is my fav and can get pretty hard later on but I find it harder getting all the secrets! Still, I would consider them hard but not VERY hard! Persistence pays when playing games like this and it helps I grew up in the era these games were released (I have finished Battletoads on NES numerous times so platformers are my go)!

I wouldn't say they've removed all difficulty from their games, not in the slightest but I understand what you mean. You've got to imagine that when you make a product you don't want extreme difficulty to alienate people to the point of not playing at all. It's the reason why we get so much post game difficulty spikes in Nintendo's games. Over the years Nintendo experimented so much in hopes that players would stay engaged even if they couldn't beat a particular level or boss.

Bananza gets a lot of crap for it's easy bosses but the last 2/3 actually do put up a really good fight. The post game challenges can be frustrating as well. It's the Emerald Rush however that launches the difficulty into the stratosphere. Nothing is harder in the main game.

Today's Nintendo gives us a hard mode usually in the form of optional tasks or optional health upgrades.

Bananza's post game should have been the main game difficulty when played on normal mode.

they already had a "I suck at videogames" mode anyway, so it's kinda crazy how baby easy they made the normal mode still.

post game in Bananza was like a 5/10 on a scale from easy to difficult
