• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Do you have Game Pass subscription?

I still have it, but I am thinking if I am going to get anywhere with the backlog on the Series X I'll need to suspend it at some point, BUT I am interested in getting more into Star Wars Outlaws, (after the demo trial) Planet of Lana 2 is coming out soon....then you have Forza Horizon, not to mention Halo 1 souped up edition...(ie a remaster for today..) In essence without an active demo scene these days, Gamepass is that....otherwise there would be no way you could try out Ages of Empire, Crysis 2/3, or some Call of Duty games, without purchasing them not knowing if you would want to buy them anyway.

I let my Game Pass Ultimate sub burn out around April of last year, right after I sold off my last Xbox Series console. By then, Microsoft wasn't doing anything to keep me tied to their console hardware. There were no real console only exclusives anymore, and every first‑party release was launching on PC, and now possibly even on other consoles. I didn't own any games on the system because GPU gave me zero reason to buy anything on the hardware. When it was time to move on, there was nothing holding me back. No loss.

I briefly considered keeping GPU just for cloud streaming, but the quality was so bad it wasn't worth the price. Sub‑1080p output, constant artifacting, and a bitrate that looked like it was being held together with duct tape. For what they were charging, it made no sense when GeForce Now delivered a far better experience in literally every category that mattered.

Nope. I stopped subscribing to that a long time ago, and after the price increase there's no way I'm going back.

Xbox made it really easy to sell off the system when you've been in Game Pass and don't buy any games. I was the same way. Hogwarts Legacy was my only purchase but I had played what I wanted from there and it goes on sale cheap now on Steam any way.

Ultimate is currently 27€ a month. This is absolutely insane. For 30€, you can buy Wo Long right now, a complete game. That's only 3€ more.

I just bought Super Bomberman Collection for 20€, that's less than the price for a single month. And we are going to get tenths of hours of gaming with my kids.

In both cases, you have the games "for life". You are much better off waiting for sales and buying games. Even a brand new game will get a discount that will be close to the amount of 2 months of GamePass pretty quickly. Usually in less than a year.

Ninja Gaiden 4 was released at something close to the price of 2 months of GamePass, and was already sold in sales at 42€. It's not even 6 months old.

At full price, Game Pass Ultimate costs 324€ a year. You can buy a ton of games for this amount.

Way too expensive.

I still have it until July, and I have a couple of 1-month codes left. I still think it's great. I like to use it like Spotify, a way to discover new games I've never heard about.

Not since they increased the PC version price past $10. I don't think I was even getting that much value out of it, so I decided to drop it once they jacked up the price. I think it would be a cool service if I were poor and had tons of time on my hands, but I was mostly just using it as a way to try out games to maybe purchase later on a sale.

Both Sony And MS can kiss my ass. I ain't paying shit to either of them.

I ain't paying to play online on PlayStation or Xbox. This shit needs to stop.

As for game pass it made some sense when it was cheap. But at current price they can shove it

With the price increases and the Microsoft Rewards program going to shit, I jumped out.
Yeah I was really frustrated to find that within the last update they did or the change to price, they removed the ability to buy game past time with the points. I had been religiously checking all of those boxes every single day and saving up those points just for that purpose.

I have it until next month after I bought a 6 month card. I had got a new, heavily discounted, gamesir 8+ and was going to get deep into emulation and streaming games, but i think in those 6 months of having Gamepass, I've played maybe 2 hours total.

I just can't feel excited to play games on subscription or with a timer like that. Its the samas for me as having a chipped console with the option to play any game, it ends up losing its wow factor and excitement so it becomes boring or like having less value respect for the game (hartofor me to explain if you haven't experienced something similar).

They were hoping we would get so hooked on cheap gamepass, that we wouldn't be able to let go when the price jumped up. On the contrary, it just showed me that I don't really need it and let it lapse.

I sub for a few months and then quit. No reason to stay subbed all year, waste of money.

I was subbed for like 3 months last year, beat Avowed, got most of the way through Indiana Jones, started Doom Dark Ages but didn't grab me, got like half way through Sea of Stars, 90%ed Oblivion Remastered.

I have a game card for 3 months for $60, I will hold onto it a bit longer, but when I do redeem it I plan to finish Indiana Jones, play OuterWorlds 2, new Forza. I should probably wait until Fable is out to use it.

Subbed until May, will probably do the lower conversion rate again.

I find value in it and games I wait for sales on usually appear on the service at some point
