i know im spiritually japanese i just need to learn the language which will probably come more naturally than others anyway so i am in no rush to learn it
I love pretty much any sushi, but they almost all taste the same the way I eat it. I make a mixed dip with soy sauce, shrimp sauce, and wasabi. I place a thin slice of ginger on top of the sushi, dip it in the sauce... and eat it until there is no more in sight. ❤
Have you ever had fresh wasabi?
It's way different than the paste you normally get.
Wasabi goes bad pretty fast, so the paste is the way most people get it.
But some places will keep a small stock of fresh for certain customers or whoever will overpay for it.
It's fucking amazing.
Normally it's grated and then either mixed with fresh water or fish oil. All the spiciness of wasabi with the actual flavor of the damn plant.
Not a great picture, that looks like it was made from pickled wasabi root.
I am not crazy about it, but i enjoy them for starters.
Usually i prefer the smaller Maki because i want to avoid these huge rice pieces with a huge salmon slice since biting though is difficult and i dont like eating it as a whole.
Whenever i and the wife go for japanese food we have a small Maki plate as starters ebefore we eat Ramen.
Sushi is good stuff. I don't eat it that often though, a required sit-down restaurant / buffet experience. I like all kinds of with ginger, wasabi, soy sauce and whatever else, spicy the better. Last time I went to a conveyer belt sushi place, very satisfying at a decent price.
I used to pick up a box with my friend and we would eat it at a seashore park on sunny days. Sitting on the grass during warmth weather, feeling the breeze and eating some fresh sushi right there while facing the sea. It helps that our favourite low-cost sushi restaurant is located right there, so we only need to cross the road and make ourselves confortable.
I’ve only had sushi a few times from the local Chinese place, but I liked it pretty good. It wasn’t my favorite, but it was good. I thikn I’d dig some spicy sushi with jalapeno and/or wasabi, though.
