Do you reckon I could beat OG FF7 by the time the Remake drops?

I am ashamed to say it, but I have never completed FF7, I played it as a kid with my older sister and whenever I was asked if I completed it I would go "pfft yeah course" when in reality I hadn't as my sister moved and aside from the random hour or two I played if that I had no experience with it.

Now here we are in big 2020 and the Remake is around the corner, I am deciding if I should complete the OG game before the remake drops for these reasons:

  1. It gives me more reasons to appreciate the Remake and I will feel some of that awe that only people who completed the OG will feel.
  2. Means I will know the whole story so I won't be left with Blue Balls after the Remake Pt.1 ends.
  3. Just allows me the chance to experience an iconic game in it's entirety.

This will add another onto my near 350 hours worth of PS4 Backlog but I am ready to dedicate time to this game, should I hold off and just play the Remake as it releases in parts or play the OG beforehand.

Remake is only Midgar, right? That's like 12 hours of the original if you take your time.

You can quite easily complete original ff7 in under 30 hours, especially the ps4 version with the click R3 for god mode.

I will take my sweet ass time with FF7 Remake, not interested in Doom Eternal yet so only got FF7, TLOU, GOT and Cyberpunk 2077 to look forward to this year out of the big releases.

^Yeah, F F 7 shouldn't take long. (granted you're not a perfectionist)

Just play the remake. The game will come out next month and I assume you don't have hours of time a day you can spend playing a game. The OG is good but a tad overated in my opinion.

I have 13 weeks paid holiday but ignoring that about 1.5 hours max from Monday-Thursday, 6-7 hours on a Friday then basically all day Sat and half the day Sunday.

In a month? Yeah, you can. It's not an overly long game unless you do a lot of grinding, and as mentioned the remake is only covered Midgar, which is a very small and not so important section of the main game.

Sure, if you play it casually and don't do every sidequest, the game can be finished in around 25 to 30 hours I think. Basically 2 Weekends if your were me.

It took me 56 hours the first time, less than a week of gaming, while I studied and sleep deprived... Which was unusual for me, the game blew me away, and motivated me to start doing squats for some reason - which I still do to this day.

So yes, you have plenty of time.

Or you could just play OG through first and then play the remake whenever you're done. Just because it comes out doesn't mean you HAVE to play it on day 1. The extra wait just means you'll have time for the inevitable patches to release for it.

You can beat FF7 in a few days of casual playing TBH.

It's easily a 40-50 hour game but there are alot of things you can skip/miss in FF7 that would drive that playtime down by quite alot.

Can you access them from the off then the codes?
I don't understand what you asked, but I used the speed mode and cheats form the start because I wanted to finish the game fast:

L3 - speeds up everything by three

L3+R3 - turns off random encounters

R3 - automatically heals everyone and gives them infinite limit breaks

I am actually planning a re-play of FF7 (Steam version) starting today. Currently using the 7th Heaven mod tool to install 20+gigs worth of texture upgrades, FMV and music upgrades, menu and UI upgrades, etc

Should be ready to rock soon.

With the added speed-up feature in the new release, you could probably complete Midgar on your first play through somewhere between like 5-7 hours (which is what the first part of the remake will cover).

Haha I'm looking at my current playthrough of FF7. The timer says 8 hours and I'm at Cosmo Canyon.

Been a while, must have remembered it wrong. I got to 12 hours and stopped when I played it, must have done some post-Midgar stuff.

The game is about 30-40 hours on average, with it being much shorter if you just go to the main areas and finish the story. You should have no problem beating it with plenty of time to spare.

Absolutely you can finish it. Its great game with great pacing. Isn't a slog at all. I reckon it could be finished in a week.

Can you spend 30-40 hours playing video games before April 10? If so, yes. If not, no.

I'd play the whole game. Even though this is just the Midgar portion a lot of the story is being told from the perspective that many/most players already know the entire plot. You'll likely catch a lot more subtleties if you've finished the original.
