Do you think Powerstone will return next-gen?

Cuz the game rawked and would probably make a cool RPG as well. :D

War of the Monster 2 please, with on-line play. WotM does Power Stone right. The only leg PS fans have to stand on is that it was four players. Other than that, WotM does the same shit - better.

-1 Crapcom.

Uh yeah - its not about "better" They are both excellent games. Powerstone is still today a great game.

i loved the first, but i doubt we'll ever see another game in the franchise :(

PS and PS2 were definitely highlights of the Dreamcast era...my friends and I played the hell out of PS2(Carosel of Death BITCHES!).

No. And it never was a great game.

My favorite part of Powerstone was the arcade cabinet instructions about evading enemy attacks, which said something along the lines of "Wiggle the joystick and you might get lucky!"

If Puff Daddy invented the Remix, then Crapcom invented shit game design. :P

Trust me I wanted to like Powerstone, but it just didn't happen. A terrible fighting engine and generally bland gaming experience did nothing to earn the game any points in my book, not when Dream Factory was producing similar titles sans the pandering.

I liked the first Powerstone better than the second one, but I liked the stages in the second one better. That first stage is just crazy. You fight on top of an airship that breaking up, then you skydive and fight for an umberlla to break your fall before you hit the ground, then it's more fighting when you hit the ground. Sorta like Family Guy where he's fighting that chicken all around the world. :lol

Actually the director of the Powerstone games is not directing DMC4 (he directed DMC3), so being that Powerstone was one of the better DC games, and he's not bogged down doing any other franchise, a Powerstone PSP or DS is possible.

I don't think the games sold enough to warrant a fully fledged next-gen game though.

I wish it would, really.. but I know it won't

ahem. I may be new here but its fairly obvious that you need to shut the fuck up.

I was talking to a friend who works for Capcom of Japan like...Two years ago maybe now, and he said due to lacking sales, there is basically no chance of ever seeing another Powerstone.

But that was two years ago, and you never know. Especially with the sucess of Super Smash Bros, Jump Super Stars, etc.

Heh, I already answered this question in the thread about what game series won't make it to the next-gen. And uhh.. the answer's still unfortunately "no". :(

This game is tailor made for the online experience. I'd buy one if they did.
Hmm.. if they did resurrect it I'm pretty sure they'd change the 3/4ths view since it wouldn't be required with everyone havning they're own screen and all. Probably go with a behind the character view like Vitual On.

You really didn't play it much did you.

I wouldn't really miss it. Didn't like the first game, as I bought it on the same day as Soul Calibur. And we can all guess how much Power Stone got played...

Actually, my friend worked at an arcade that had the cabinet; and I got a considerable amount of time on the game. It stunk. No two ways about it.

If you even remotely enjoyed PS, then buy this:

He uses the word Crapcom.

Yeah, their fall from grace has been hard and unforgiving. No need for former fans to stick around and tolerate their rehashes and rubbish "new" releases ad nauseum. They're good for their back catalogue though.

Oh, and Gotcha Force and P.N.03 were pretty okay.

So you'll know about super-cancelling and things like that then?

Or did you just twat around against the computer and not play against another human player? Because a high-level Power Stone game between 2 well matched players is anything but bland.

Most people got Power Stone totally wrong, it was far more fighter than party game. And a lot deeper and more balanced than most people realised, or bothered to find out. With Power Stone 2 they turned it into what people had expected it to be like, and in doing so lost most of what made the original so good.

Seeing Power Stone again makes me think back to how the launch-to-mid-life Dreamcast era felt like seeing Capcom on top, shooting out awesome game after awesome game non-stop - either great DC/Naomi originals or the definitive, ultimate kick-ass ports of their greatest arcade games.

Then suddenly, it all went away.

Is it just me, or does it sure seem as if Capcom's fall (such as it is) began around the time they screwed up Devil May Cry 2?

I suppose that might've truly been an indication of something anyway - the fact that they'd toss such a high profile title.

PowerStone was a failure in both the arcades and console so it make little sense for Capcom to throw money into another.

Are you out of your mind? Capcom has been one of the best developers for the past year and a half.

They not only SAVED their most beloved franchises, but in most cases, put out the best game in each series. Onimusha 3, Resident Evil 4, Devil May Cry 3, Mega Man X8, Mega Man Zero 3 (with 4 about to come out), Viewtiful Joe 1-2? You consider those "rehashes" and "rubbish?" Sorry, but you are completely wrong.

Moreso, proving my point, is the fact that out of all the games I just listed, you used P.N.03 as an example of one of their good games.

I like War of the Monsters alright, but Powerstone kicks it's fucking ass. I can't imagine human beings feel otherwise.

Crapcom! You <shakes fist in air>

I always thought it would have done quite well on GC actually. Trouble with Power Stone 2 was that it alienated a lot of fans of the original, so even though it appealed to some new people it didn't do anything to grow the franchise.

A Power Stone 3 that combined both games - a strong 1-on-1 mode, and a 4-player party mode that appealed to the Smash Bros. crowd could have gone down quite well on GC I think. And it's still got some of Capcom's best art and character design.

Bring it back on Revolution!

Actually there is a story with this one. DMC2 for 1/2 of it's development wasn't supposed to be a DMC game at all. It was just a new title from Studio 1 that was using the engine Studio 4 created with DMC1.

60-80% of DMC1's completion, Capcom noticed the immense hype, and converted the "to-be-original" game from Studio 1 into DMC2. That is why the whole game seems as if Dante wasn't even supposed to be in it, no reference to story, --in fact the only relation made was the word "Sparda" being said. The game was supposed to originally star a female lead. And what do you know, that female lead became Lucia (the 2nd playable character in DMC2).

Also, the game switched producers halfway through development. All those things considered, and the attempt to make DMC2 an easy, weaksauce game, is why it sucked beyond belief.

I wish, hope, and pray for a new powerstone every day. That was a game that had so much potential. it sold like shit because it was on the DC... where most if not all games on the system sold like shit.

I hope capcom reconsiders and released powerstone 3 next gen. Capcom needs to release a game like that... especially since they have a lineup of horror / action titles.

BRING BACK THE FIGHTERS CAPCOM!

- Street Fighter 4
- Powerstone 3
- Rival Schools 4
- Darkstalkers 4

I agree with this post more than I can express.

Power Stone had an anime based off of it and a sequel made. How could it not be popular enough to warrent another? Hopefully now that the director is free he can make a new one - or now that there are powerful enough handhelds out, port it to them.

Same. Although I wish Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was possible. ):

So does Capcom have no rights to Marvel at all anymore? They should go after something else like DS, mayhaps.
