Do you use indoor security cameras in your room?

I am not sure how paranoid this thought would be, but I was thinking of getting one of those indoor security camera like the Wyze cam and put it in my room. I want to see if people go into my room without my permission.

I have a big ass German shepherd. I lock my front door and she takes care of the rest.

I have a cheap camera pointed at the cat-flap, to check my cat is ok if I'm away for a few days. Never worried about the security aspect though.

I have a few outside cameras watching the front/back doors to my house. I've got a camera in my main room (which covers the inside of both main doors). I have a few motion detectors in other areas of the house.

But no, I don't have a cam in my room. That's just creepy (also I live alone). I understand the need for one if you live with roommates, and there is undoubtedly a good spot you can hide it to catch who comes and goes without actually watching your private area, so if you're set on a cam for your room it shouldn't be that big of an issue.

I'd suggest disabling the audio, not making is accessible online, and covering it when you're in your room.

Wtf? No, no I don't. How old are you OP? I only ask because this seems like a very odd concern for a grown man to have.

No cameras. Just a shotgun jerri rigged to the door handle with a piece of string.

Do it if you have doubts your wife is cheating on you

I use not only security cameras but also doors with biometrics and hidden cameras all over the house which react to any movement. On the one hand it is absolutely necessary to take care of security since it is really important but on the other hand I am tired of reading the other day another news about "data leakage of [name of some famous company]".

Nothing wrong with wanting to be able to keep an eye on things. There are shitty and fucked up people in every country on earth. Not one country or race has the monopoly on it

I have them outside, but inside is too much for me. A lady I work with has cameras all over her home, inside and out. She even has them in her, and her kids bedrooms. That is officially too high on my creepi-shit-ometer.

I found a couple of dumpster security cameras and just attached them on the outside of my apartment. They don't work or anything, but I feel SOOOO much safer.

Best security you can get is a dog. Plus now you have a dog!

I live alone too, so there’s no need... Unless brap is masturbating in my house while I’m out and about and I don’t know it.

Then I’d have some really good fapping material.

Security cameras do a good job at catching thieves, yes.
Old post, but...this isn't really true. I know plenty of people who got robbed and had video evidence and still the police ignored it. Like a guy who had his laptop stolen so he activated the webcam remotely, had a literally perfect picture of his face + address but the police charged the victim for doxing the thief...

Because everything is corrupt and laws are mostly to save the criminals not the victims. :) Why do politicians have political immunity? In Germany they are corrupt in everything and get a pass thanks to their polical immunity. After they get caught they get promoted to another position where they are "out of the picture".

In the last few days and weeks thinking about society and everything just makes me wanna puke whole day.

And police doesnt care for small stuff because they dont have enough money and ressources. Thats why police and military in Germany gets defunded more and more so they are only available at important stuff.

No interior cameras, no smart speakers either.

I came up with a independent smart home solution based on new technology that doesnt rely directly on Amazon or Google.

You could easily turn your home into an independent smart home where nobody will listen to your things and you get an AI that learns by your inputs.

But the independent smarthome is able to use "Google" for you over an "anonymous" channel and tell you the informatin without relying on going to google yourself and offering personal information.

Then Corona happened and we had to quit all the stuff lol

Because of Hitler. He made up phony charges against his political opponents and while they were investigated he used the time to pass the laws he needed to become a dictator. Or at least that is what I was taught.

No point when you live alone.

Although I have thought about getting a camera for outside just for safety. I live in a pretty safe place, but still get paranoid about burglars.
