I always worry that rare or medium rare I might catch worms or something

So medium well->well done

The risk is relatively low with whole cuts like steaks, especially if cooked to at least rare, because tapeworm larvae are typically found on the surface of the meat, which is cooked off.
Are you guys thinking about pork?

Yes, you can potentially contract parasitic worms from eating undercooked steak, though the risk depends on several factors. The primary concern is **Taenia saginata**, the beef tapeworm, which can be present in raw or undercooked beef.

- **Beef Tapeworm (Taenia saginata)**: This parasite can infect humans if they consume beef that hasn't been cooked to a sufficient temperature to kill the tapeworm cysts

- **Other Parasites**: While less common in beef, other parasites like **Toxoplasma gondii** can also be transmitted through undercooked meat, causing toxoplasmosis, which may lead to flu-like symptoms or more severe issues in immunocompromised individuals.

I need a tapeworm, though.
I hear it's better than paying for a colonic.

You can definitely get sick from under-cooked pork, steak not so much, it's very rare, pardon the pun. You basically have to eat it raw to run the risk of tapeworm and even then it has to be really mishandled beef from a dirty nasty person/place. But no, we're talking about beef.
