My parents are both retired, and spend all winter driving an RV around the southern states and all summer tending to their gardens. They keep themselves happy without needing social interaction.

I must take after them a lot, as I would rather sit at home with just the wife and dog than be out with others.

My mom is pretty sociable. She knows a lot of people but has a small group of close friends. She has a few "frenemies" as well, haha.

My dad on the other hand isn't sociable at all. I can't even think of someone that he would consider a legit close friend, besides maybe a co-worker or two. He just goes to work and comes home, and I never see him go out to meet a friend or anything (then again, my mom kinda has him tied down because she doesn't like him going out, lol).

my dad has had a rock band (mostly covers) with 4 of his friends that he knows since they were 13, he is 65 now, they still rehearse and play once or twice yearly

last year they lost their first member to cancer :/ was tough


mom still has her best friend that she sees on a weekly basis

other than that, they are mostly work-centered relationships, but still good ones.

My dad has his work buddies and his two best friends from highschool, and my mom has a small group of close friends she likes to shop and have dinner with.

They go out every once in a while, but they like doing things with just the family more. They're actually very much still in love, so it's kinda cute.
