does any one here dig cell phone gaming???

So lately ive been checcking out what there is to offer in cell phone gaming and i think that thier is some pretty nifty stuff going on. Some of the stuff macrospace is doing is crazy and i really love how they are porting old square-enix snes games to your phone. I think its getting to the point where thier is going to be some pretty amazing cell phone gamescoming out soon. Like the up coming final fantesy game that uses your cells camera to gain matera to caste spells. Does any one agree with me in saying cell phone gaming has alot of potential.

if you want to try oput some of the games i recommend going to www.macrospace.com thier they have emulators that allow you to try demos of all thier games.

see u have better phones in britian im running a v600 though and it seems to work pretty well i guess.

also does any one know a place where i can get free downloads of games other than wap.rousso.net ???

yes and no. the controls are really limited, it's more of a novelty right now ( I only play to pass time on the train/subway etc..)

That's actually a Japanese phone (Vodafone services Japan too). Metal Gear and Metal Slug look great...Metal Slug is a bit of a bitch to control, but runs fine.
 
I've got 80 or so games on my phone including King Of Fighters, Colin McRae Rally, Metal Slug, Rainbow 6 etc all on my K700 and I love 'em too.

Anyone who wants fullscreen java games for their k700/V600/Nokia series 60 can just drop me a PM.

kpop: pray tell, where did you get the RR clone? I'd love to try it on my K700. :)

Is there a way to download those .jar files to my K700 without using a datacable or Bluetooth? I put them in a folder on my website, browsed to them, downloaded the file, but it didn't recognise it as a videogame and was therefor unplayable.
 
That should have worked, I've never done it but I read that's how it works, just throw it on a server and browse to it from your phone.

I use BT personally, but alternatively you can use the infrared on any laptop you can find.
 
so video game piracy on consoles is bad, but on cell phones its OK?

Can someone lock this please? Some people make a living out of these things :/
 
Games on cellphones suck.
My pa1m0ne Zire71 creams them all. 16MB + 256 and 128MB SD cards. 320x320x16 display. 144Mhz processor.
Zuma beats those all.

Err not the games I'm playing. RR on my keitai looks better than GBA racers I've seen. Think PSX version little lower frame rate. FF1&2 looks identical to GBA counterpart etc.. Most game downloads cost 500 yen or less even,...which brings me to my next point...

I pay for the games I dl, and I get them directly from the game makers websites..I downloaded RR from Namco Japan webpage (right from cell phone)
 
I have a really awesome version of Gradius for my phone (Sanyo).. its amazing how good this version of this game is, and how crappy the frogger port is.
 
FF1 looks, plays and sounds better on GBA than it does on keitai, but that's not to say the keitai version isn't fairly impressive.

I own an NGage and its asstacular. Use it to link up my MMC card with pcs to transfer pics from my digital cam when I'm out and about.

So. No.

I like Big screens and big sounds (or a GBASP)

I would never try to say cell phone gaming is better than a GBA SP...thats just plain stupid...but there are some decent games that's all I'm saying.
 
cell phone gaming is pretty good..
the games have to be very simple though.. prefrably with only one action button.
Colin mcrae rally 4 runs very well on the k700i and it's a damn fun game.. hurts the thumb though :(
Most games are for nokias though and nokias have crappy screen resolutions so some games are played in a small box in an already small screen eg. puzzle bubble, good game crappy small screen.
Other games are just plain crap on cell phones..such as tetris, the lag you get when you want to move a peice is too much so after level 10 it's impossible to play.

we all know the gba is better than the cell phone but thats not the point cell phone gaming is great for what it is plus somer of the things the japanese companies are doing is pretty remarkable for a cell phone
 
The GBA might be slightly better than my phone as a games unit, but my phone always has about 80 games on it, I always have it with me and it doesn't require any adaptor to use the headphone either.

It also has seperate processors for the FM radio and the java engine so I can run FM radio through the speaker and play my games at the same time without a performance hit.


Now that I've got the K700 with 176 x 220 pixel game support I dont even use my Ngage anymore either.
 
donpachi on a cell phone? How the hell does it render all the bullets??? for that matter, if it does an ok job, how do you see the bullets to dodge them? :)
 
I haven't seen Donpachi or Outrun available on any cell platform, do these games exist cs060 or were you wishful thinking out loud?

kpop, not sure if you got my pm, but I'd be interesting in trading some .jars with you, my list is posted in this thread. They'll all run fullscreen on your V600.
 
I just got a K700i (i washed my old phone, highlighting my intelligence once again). The basic games you get really suck ass.

Where is:

A. Best place to get all these cool games (for best also consider Cheapest)
B. Somewhere that reviews releases so i know im not downloading crap.

Actually it doesn't. The GBA remake it done from the ground up for it, the cellphone version is just a port of the WSC/PS1 remake iirc.

hey is it possible to import a japanese phone and possibly get english menus in it? and use it on a US service? japan gets cooler phones.

Maybe they bought them from their operator WAP site? On nokia phones press and hold '0' to go to your WAP homepage.
 
Yeah ive looked there and on macrospaces homepage, so i can get ancient empires etc, i was really referring to the Ridge racer game, metal slug etc.
