Does anyone actually prefer ClearType text in XP?

everything has red edges. Nasty. Its like when I used to read C&VG and they'd print black text on a red background, and when you scanned, it'd fuck up your eyes.

I'll try the tuner, but this looks sucky. The GBA demo I tried out ages ago was better than this.

Well, it shouldn't be doing that; so either your video card sucks or your just fucked in the head.

For most people, the smoother the image is without arbitary jagged elements, the closer to a natural image it represents... which is a good thing.
4xAA will smooth the edges, but for some reason, texture performance seems to suffer even with Anisotropic Filtering maxed (ATIs implementation perhaps?). This has occured on my last 3 cards, so I doubt it's the hardware (and is also reported by others including one over in the Aniso topic in the gaming forum). I prefer to game in 2xAA myself.. but there's no real comfort balance. I love the sharpness no AA provides (in textures), but the jaggies are horrible. 4xAA and above just looks like vaseline by my perception anyway.

Use cleartype with the right font, like franklin gothic medium. It looks horrible without it, but with cleartype it's nice.
