it looks liek he just got out of the blocks.. in which case, he would be looking down.. and slowly lifting his head as he continues to run.

so, he probably didnt see her cause he was looking down.

no he does not start in blocks, he is doing a long jump there, so he does not start in blocks, he stands up looking towards the sandpit when he prepares so yes he should have seen her!
