Does anyone remeber Captain Eo?

Does anyone remeber this thing from Disney World/Land. I remeber I saw it when I was like 4 years old and it really freaked me out. Then I saw it again when I was in 8th grade I laughed my ass off during it. I guess it ended up to be a lame movie, but am I the only person that remebers that movie?

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
Never saw it, however even without seeing it I can safely say:

Moonwalker>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Captain EO

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.
Moonwalker was NOT in 3D!

It was pretty cool, I always enjoy 3d movies... saw it at Epcot when it came out there.

Moonwalker==Captain Eo. I have a bootleg of the audio track from the movie, plus a very, very ancient Behind the Scenes special on VHS. I wish I had taped the one-time airing of the movie on MTV, it hasn't been on TV since, and somehow I doubt it's going to see release anytime soon due to, well, you know.

That little furry creature that flew up to you and flapped it's wings was so cute. I vaguely remember how it went, but it was pretty interesting. I must have been 9 or so.

I missed out on DisneyLand as a kid. Long story shot: my parents sucked. So I went for the first time a few years ago (a friend treated for my 25th birthday). I was so pissed EO was not available.

They removed it because Disney didn't want to have a Michael Jackson attraction in a family place (although it's apparently still in Epcot, dunno for sure).

You're about 12 years too late.

It's not in EPCOT, it hasn't been for awhile. As of two years ago when I went with some friends, the theater's been running a "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" 3D movie. My friend - a bit of a Disney nut - insisted at the time that it was better than Captain Eo. I still think he's crazy.

Hell, that doesn't stop Disney from pimping other rides that are way past it's "prime". I guess the difference here is that none of the other rides features a perv, but still...

"20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride," "Dreamflight," and a whole bunch of shit that was shut down at EPCOT disagree with you. ;)

The only 3D ride better than EO is Muppets 3D.

I was last there...7 years ago now (I was 11). Even then, the changes from 7 years earlier were fairly blatant.

I'd like to go back soon (This year it should be, I had seven years between the first trips), if only because it's a more rollercoaster-oriented experience.

Captain Eo was the shit! I remember MJ reaching out of that huge screen in 3D and stretching his arm out in hopes of touching my 12 year old penis!

Hey, I wasn't saying it to diss those rides! I love them! I LOVE cheesy old rides. Almost as much as seeing bad 3D with pervy man-children.

I saw Captain EO as well, back in the day.

If I remember correctly, a number of the little creatures and whatnot that were in Captain EO were minor puppets from Return of the Jedi, reused with different names. I could almost swear that the keyboard player from the band in Jabba's palace was in it, e.g.

Well, I haven't seen it since nineteen-eighty-whatever, so.

Edit: Oh shit. The thing that I thought was Jabba's keyboard player is actually in the movie poster above. Close enough.

Star Tours took its place, didn't it?

Not in Disneyland. It's the Theatre in Tomorrowland under Space Mountain that used to play it. It plays Honey I Shrunk the Audience now.

Muppets 3D does rule.

I barely remember Captain EO either. I was 5 or 6 at the time. I remember.. There was a danceoff between him and some Rainbow Robots? No idea. Can't remember much.

That was just Angelica Houston doing some weird, proto-Borg thing. Creepy, yeah, but for a 15 minute sci-fi movie, it had better pacing and story than Jurassic Park 3. ;)

I saw Captain Eo twice! I had a stuffed animal of the little flying alien with the long ass tail. I wish I still had him.

Are either of you two looking forward to the "new" Space Mountain? I know I am. :D

Kinda/sorta, but I'll also be sad to see the old one go.

Wow, I vaguely remember this, but that's going back like 12-15 years.

For some reason I thought this was at Universal Studios Florida though, where the Terminator show is now. Anyone know what the Terminator 2 3-D show replaced at Universal then?

I was five when I tried to see it... my brother and I got scared by the 3D asteroid at the beginning and my dad had to drag us out. So I never really saw it.

Yeah! The last time I went with some girlfriends but the old one was down. I know this new one will be worth the sacrifice, though.

Captain EO was the shit. I was pissed the last time i went to Disney Land (liek 5 years ago) and they replaced it with some stupid Honey i Shrunk the Kids crap. I still have the plush toy of that little red furball thing with the longass tail.

The next person to insult Mr. Toad's Wild Ride gets a permanent ban that will spread over the next 62 incarnations of Gaming-Age.

Err, I mean, this server is perfect and will never die!

Captain EO was pretty sweet the one time I saw it. They also had this othe movie where you saw the world from inside some kid's head. I don't know, it was cool though. The best ride at Epcot that year was either the Eastern Airlines snoozefest (actually pretty cool) or Bodywars (pretty lame in retrospect). PEACE.

I saw Captain Eo about two or three times. I remember Hooter (the keyboard player) as well- looked KINDA like a blue elephant, right?

I checked IMDB, and it says it was minute-for-minute, the most expensive movie ever made- with $1 million per minute.

Funny that Francis Ford Coppola directed it.

Call me sad, but I'm still hoping for a DVD release of Moonwalker. I'm ashamed to admit it but I really liked it.

Whaaaat? Didn't Titanic cost more than $200 million? It can't be more than three hours long.
I think it's pretty clear that such a statement was made back when it was first made. It wasn't a forward predicting guarantee. Obviously it's not true now, well, unless you take into account inflation, in which case it could be.

An interesting fact about Mr. Toad's wild ride is that there were two different routes going simultaneously with different things happening in both of them. Occasionally the two routes would overlap and you would almost "crash" into other people's cars. It didn't really matter thought, because the outcome for both was the same. Crashing into a freight train, dying, and GOING TO HELL.

AWESOME ride.

Thanks for forcing me to relive a horrible childhood experiance. I saw this the day it opened at Disneyland and i swore never to see it again. I was just a little kid, but i was stupid saw it again and freaked out again. And to think i had almost pushed it all the way out of my head. This and moonwalker make me freaked out by MJ.
