Does anyone still actually own a Gamecube?

Nah, Pikmin 2 seemed like a real fix to the problems of the original, but eventually -- and I'd never thought I'd EVER say this, which makes Pikmin 2 a real crime against humanity -- the random cave levels got downright DULL. It ain't a bad game, by any stretch, though.

I could understand if this thread had been made for the Xbox, godforsaken piece of crap that it is (unless you mod it), but Gamecube? Of course I have one. I have all three consoles (modded Xbox), and the Gamecube library kicks the everloving shit out of the Xbox's.

PS2 rules all, obviously.

There, unharnessed bias.

I've had a cube since launch and have no intention of getting rid of it, but to tell the truth I haven't played it in months. One of these days i will start playing Celda - when I got it I tried out Ocarina just to see what it was like before starting on the "real" game and over a year later I am still playing Ocarina in bursts but haven't touched the other disc.

If I had kept up to date with the games that have been released for the cube up to and including Resident Evil 4 though (instead of playing Xbox games and having a life) it would have been mothballed by now.

I just played Dynasty Warriors 5 for three hours last night!

You and MAF are the DW experts around here. I recently got DW4 and 4XL. I haven't started a game save yet. What the hell should I do first and continue doing?

Also: the Redmond Town Center EB sucks. It's all about the Crossroads Gamestop.

Right now all I own is a PS2, PSP, and a Xbox.

I sold my gamecube along with my other systems on tuesday.

worst system I ever bought :(

I have all three consoles and its my Gamecube that gets the most usage. The console has its share of problems with regards to third party support. But there is still a wealth of great games there. To dismiss the console entirely is just stupid. Why would any gamer want to miss good games?

I guess I'll answer this truthfully since the thread didn't derail as much as I expected it to.

Xbox = Sold. I modded though before I sold it so I ended making a good profit on it :)

PS2 = I had the original model but it broke. I picked up a PStwo a year later with the xbox money. Still play it. I'm still playing Burnout 4 though I recently finally finished MGS2 on it.

Gamecube = Had it since launch, still play it. I'm playing Xmen legends 2 on it with 2 friends. It's a pretty fun game 3 player. I also have the new Hulk game but I haven't had a chance to play it much. It's pretty kickass though.

I have two GameCubes, I bought one machine on launch day in Japan and the other one (PAL) when The Wind Waker came out.

I still play Super Smash Bros. Melee a lot and I recently bought Silent Scope for 10 Euros because I was bored.

I'm keeping it for Mario Dance Dance Revolution (what's the real name again?) and Twilight Princess, which will be the best game ever.

I still have and love my GameCube Nintendo. :D

RE4, Zelda:WW(except for that stupid, stupid Triforce shard deal), Fire Emblem, DK:JB, Metroid Prime, Prince of Persia, and Eternal Darkness have been some of the most enjoyable games I've played the last two gens.

That said, I've enjoyed the Xbox equally. Halo 1/2 has become one of my favourite series of games. Ninja Gaiden Black, well nothing needs to be said. Crimson Skies, KotoR 1, Red Dead Revolver, Panzer Dragoon Orta, JSRF(not as good as JSR), Psychonauts, and Phantom Dust all rule.

The PS2, I didn't like so much. No Warhawk, no Tomba, no Jumping Flash makes for a very sad gamer. :( Here's hoping the PS3 picks up the slack. They've announced WarHawk, so that's a good start. :)

Got one at launch, still have it.

1. SSBM + F-Zero ftw
2. As a super major SOnic fanboy, I must play a minimum of 10 hours of Sonic Adventure 2 and/or Sonic Adventure DX every month. I never owned a Dreamcast.
3. Metroid Prime. Come on, it's Metroid freaking Prime.
4. Wind Waker

That's just off the top of my head.

PS2+GC ftw. Xbox can go sit in a corner by itself somewhere...

Between Twilight Princess and the upcoming Baten Kaitos 2, I'll still get some use out of my GC. That's probably it, though.

No Warhawk, no Tomba, no Jumping Flash makes for a very sad gamer.

Yes, we're all highly disturbed that the PS2 doesn't have rehashes of crappy first generation PSOne games that most people have already forgotten. I'm still waiting for Toshindon 4 and a 2D MK game with 3 hour Shang Tsung morphs.

I live near that Gamestop. You have been in White Man territory.

Umm, okay.

I can't be the only one who liked WarHawk, JF1/2, and Tomba could I? Or maybe you're just being an ass? Nah, that can't be it.

Of course not, sold that useless biatch 2 years ago. Got $315 for it(with a memory card and 5 games). Pwnage.

I've got one. It gets played about once a week or so. The neighbor comes over and we play Soul Calibur 2.

Also, that machine got a heavy workout after RE4 came out. I played that day after day for weeks.

I'm looking forward to the next Zelda game on it.

There were other games I played in the past, but I don't have those anymore. Sometimes Mario Kart DD gets played and rarely Super Monkey Ball 2.

"crap like [...] Jungle Beat!" == any of your opinions are worthless

Only about 1% of the Gamecube userbase (including me) has played the game. I don't think he's one of them.

I own a GC and the line up is great, but only for nintendo 1st and some 2nd party games, I can't think of many, if any 3rd party games that are Must Have Titles. While i think it is OK for this generation to do what nintendo have done, they really do need to chane for the next one and get some new ideas going (It does seem that they are doing this)

I wonder what mario kart revolution will be like, hopefully (unlike DD) it will have a good single player to back up the multiplayer.

The GC's line up may be crap when compared to the PS2's, but at least it is not at XBOX level, they've got what? Halo and a dissapointing sequel?

Yep, I still have mine. Haven't really played it much though. I work too much. :(

I have been working on Paper Mario though off and on. I just don't really play games too much anymore. Believe it or not, my PS2 was collecting more dust than my Gamecube so I gave it to my girlfriend. She played some Spongebob game for a week, and the last time I went over to her place, it was covered in dust again. :lol

I'd consider myself a weekend warrior only if i did not have a cube in my console line up.

It's the perfect family console. some for me and lots for my son!

yeah and first half of 2006 is no guarantee either.

I have a feeling Zelda will be out summer/fall 2006 - If Nintendo knew how much more time they needed they would've set a date in spring. Ah well let's just hope for a new trailer next month.

Still have mine since launch. I did lend it to my sister for about 2 years though :lol

Anyways, grabbed it back for resident evil 4 and then had the best gaming time ever with paper mario 2. Such a fantastic game.

Zelda and Fire Emblem. That's why mine is still around. I mean, I'll probably pick up Batallion Wars and Jungle Beat at some point, plus I have a few unfinished games to go through, but yeah...it's all about the Zelda and Fire Emblem.

Which puts it ahead of Xbox, actually. Does the system have anything worthwhile coming out that isn't a PS2 or PC port? Phantom Dust and NCAA Football 06 are the only games I've bought for it this year. Well, there was Jade Empire, but I couldn't get rid of that stinker fast enough. Plus, 360 is only a month away.

The only reason I still have mine is a sense that Microsoft will turn backwards compatibility into a total clusterfuck.

Yup, I got me a Twilight Princess to tv converter. Just recently grabbed Twin Snakes for it, dunno if I'm gonna bother with another game for it until Twilight Princess is out tho. What few releases there are coming for the GC between now and then don't really interest me. Fire Emblem is the only other major release coming soon that leaps to mind, and I'd personally rather play through an N1 strat game instead.

Nah, I got decent at F-Zero GX, largely because 60fps arcade racers have a sort of lesser-grade isamu-style mesmerization effect on me. In the end, though, I could never escape the idea that I was just mindlessly doing that stupid snaking motion over the video equivalent of those old "games" where you moved a plastic car atop an unwinding spool of printed road -- the game lacked any real feel of inertia or weight, and eventually the utter soullessness of it all caused me to sell it.
So the game sucked because you willingly decided to play the game by exploiting a glitch instead of playing the game properly? That's like using a Gameshark for infinite health and then complaining how the game was too easy.

Regardless, I just restarted Metroid Prime a couple days ago because I just randomly stopped playing it a couple years ago for no real apparent reason. So I started back from the beginning again. Game rocks. And I still have a copy of MP2 that I got for Christmas last year that I'll play after I'm done with this.

Meanwhile, my poor Xbox hasn't been taken out of its box since it was packed up for the move back in July. And for a few months before that I didn't even have it plugged in either. How about we make a thread about that? :D

ive had 2 gamecubes, gave both away now.... GC had some good times for sure and I certainly dont hate the console but I have nothing to play now.

im betting I will be able to pickup Zelda with a GC for £50-60 come next year! :D :lol

I'm surprised that people repeatedly buy and sell their game systems, especially as retailers rip you of big time when you trade in.

I tend to hold on to my systems, so yes I still have my gamecube. Last game I played was killer 7, since then its been all DS.

It is becoming harder and harder for me to read DC's posts any more. His posts are getting way to predictable to the point that the words he uses are expected. Come on DC get a vocabulary or surprise us once in a while like MAF does to keep things interesting. :/

I'm curious but what is the deal of selling and rebuying a system numerous times? as far I know, you only lose money that way

Generally I agree. I was able to gain once though. I sold my N64, memory card, controllers (4) and 11 games shortly after the Dreamcast was released (sale: $300). Then during early 05 I won an eBay auction that netted: 4 N64 systems, 22 games, 2 memory cards, 7 controllers and a Game Shark for only $120.

I know... it's a surprise to me too. I only sell systems that I know I'm never going to use ever again. Like for example, my original GBA. I had absolutely no use for it once I got my SP. I would never sell my GameCube, PS2, or DC.

The little cube's worth about as much as a 45 lb sweat shop laborer, so no, I haven't sold it; I have enough change as it is. Additionally, the gas to make the trip to sell it and the gas to make another trip to buy it for TP would nearly equal the price of the system itself.
