Does anyone still actually own a Gamecube?

the last game I played on my GC was Metroid Prime (1).

I want to check out Paper Mario 2 eventually...and Zelda of course. It's been at YellowAce's getting a modswitch installed for about, uh, 18 months or so now. I haven't really missed it, except for Mr. Driller Drill Land.

definitely my least played console ever, even my Xbox gets more play than the GC (which is tough for me cause it's neither wacky nor jappy)

Paper Mario 2 is excellent and an underrated game. It's something about the atmosphere that makes it feel very nostalgic(well it's an IS game). And the music is imo top notch.

Get it as soon as you can.

I sold mine about 5-6 months ago. I really, really, really wish I sold it sooner though. I think the last time I really played it in any meaningful way was way back when Metroid Prime came out. After that it had just been collecting dust. I probably could have gotten more back then too. :(

Did I see some Dynasty Warriors bashing? HEATHENS!!

Anyway, I still have my Gamecube at my parents house. My brother and I sometimes get a quick game of Madden 2004 on the weekends, and I'll occassionally bust out the Mega Man Collection for some old school rockin' (although the Gamecube version for whatever reason has screwed up controls).

Still, I'm not buying anything for the system until Zelda.

are holding my GC safetly at home, I recently bought Pikmin 2 and it's awesome I love it.

I think my friend got me a GC as a gift, knowing that I'll never have the heart to just pitch something I got for free and thus making Nintendo's scorn a permanent fixture in my house. Goddammit :(

I'm throwing a party this weekend with a bunch of people from work, and the other resident geek-type at the place asked me what systems I had. After I gave him the run down, he insisted that he'd be brining SSBM over. I flatly replied "If my party is so boring that we have to resort to playing Smash Brothers, I've failed as a host."

DW5 > RE*, individually or combined

I still have mine but havent played it since May. I wouldnt get anything for it and I do want to play Zelda when it comes out so there is no reason to sell it.

Still have it. The last new game I played on it was RE4, around April. I pop in SMB1 every now and then because I just recently opened it after buying it on clearence some time ago. Other than that, it's usually just collecting dust.

I will be getting one for F-ZeroGFX soon...can't wait to play this game for the very first time!!

WTF? Gamecubes are so the new Xbox 360's. They have just been flying off the shelf in anticipation for that Zelda game that is coming out in 2006!

It should also be noted, GameCube's got the best versions of Soul Calibur 2, Phantasy Star Online, and Monkey Ball, among a few others. Nevermind that shitty port of Skies of Arcadia...Dreamcast all the way there...

I still have mine. There is no point in selling it when I have a good collection of GC games and Zelda and Fire Emblem are still to come.

while i used to agree with that, ie link, i dont agree anymore since the gcn version looks pretty crappy on hdtv even in 480p. xbox 720p ftw :D

Still got mine, only for the new Zelda.

Don't play it much at all anymore. Most of the games have little replay value, but when I tried out the Mario soccer game I decided I needed a new party game. Gonna pick it up when the price drops.

The GameCube is surprisingly the only system with good split-screen games (outside of sports titles). Then again, there are very few of those.

Most of my friends who come over want to grab a beer and just play Smash Bros, Mario Kart, or Twisted Metal Black.

I've been playing some Mario Power Tennis lately, will be playing FE:PoR at Christmas, and then waiting for Zelda and enjoying my DS.

I’m such a sucker for lists, so here are games I have yet to buy. Some have been out for a while now and some still have yet to see a release in Australia.

Super Smash Bros. Melee
Ikaruga (maybe)
Paper Mario 2
Tales of Symphonia
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (maybe)
Battalion Wars
StarCraft: Ghost
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

And then there's a decent backlog of games that I already own but have yet to finish (Pikmin 2, Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil 4, DK:JB, F-Zero GX). All those games pretty much guarantee that I'll have a GC well into next year. And I don’t plan on getting the Rev or PS3 at launch anyway, so I have to stretch GC’s usefulness well past the release of those two consoles.

I'm glad I don't get through games the way some of you seem to.

My GC is 3 feet to my right, in a plastic deptartment store bag, along with 20 or so games and a couple of controllers and 2 memory cards. It's been sitting there in the middle of the floor for at least 2 months.

I'm such a lazy bastard, I should clean my apartment.

GC is my only current gen home console atm. I had an Xbox for a little less than half a year before it became apparent that it was a good time to sell. I broke even on it, at least on the hardware end of things. Was also babysitting a friend's PS2 for a little over a year. So right now I'm just playing portables, PC, RE4, and waiting for Zelda:TTP and X360 to come out.

Games I am periphrially interested in I don't own for cube yet.

Mario Superstar Baseball - 8/29/2005
Battalion Wars - 9/19/2005
Fire Emblem - 10/17/2005
Chaos Field - 10/18/2005
LEGO Star Wars - 10/25/2005
Mario Party 7 - 11/7/2005
Viewtiful Joe Red Hot Rumble - 11/8/2005
Mega Man X Collection - 11/15/2005
Prince of Persia: Two Thrones - 12/1/2005
Super Mario Strikers - 12/5/2005
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - 4/3/2006

I play Virtua Striker 3 twice or three times a week... nobody else does it, I'm pretty sure :lol :lol :lol

GameCube has A LOT of great games.
You gamer MUST own a GameCube.

I still have my two gamecubes under my TV, but they're covered by dust and are going to be removed from there when the X360 hits. Don't know where I'm going to put them then. Maybe I'll give them away to some kids in the neighborhood.

I was at the Redmond EB and they were building a little play fort out of used Gamecubes. They asked me if I wanted one for $50, and I had to decline.
Well, considering the existing/upcoming bundles, $50 for a used system is a pretty shitty deal anyway.

At least that puts it in the top 3! :lol

Nah, I got decent at F-Zero GX, largely because 60fps arcade racers have a sort of lesser-grade isamu-style mesmerization effect on me. In the end, though, I could never escape the idea that I was just mindlessly doing that stupid snaking motion over the video equivalent of those old "games" where you moved a plastic car atop an unwinding spool of printed road -- the game lacked any real feel of inertia or weight, and eventually the utter soullessness of it all caused me to sell it.
Why were you snaking anyway?

Gamecube played out like Dreamcast 2 in retrospect.
When the Dreamcast began tanking is really when I realized the GameCube could have some big problems, because clearly some great exclusive content at a cheap price wasn't enough.

I love my gamecube... it's not that I have to lay everyday, so for me the gamecube has enough quality games to keep me happy.

drinky cow is sad with his bashing nintendo topics... it's getting really old by now.

There are still games coming and some of them are exclusive. Total # of games will be less than xbox and ps2, but it's not about numbers. It's about the games and I have a lot of fun with the games currently available and I'm waiting for Fire Emblem, zelda and kirby. Not bad for a system in it's last year....

Better question:
Does anyone still actually own a Xbox? (because of xbox360 and because of the lame line-up this and next-year)

I still have but i think i wont be buying much games anymore. Just Zelda and maybe some budget titles like Paper mario.

Still have my two cubes (and my PS2 which probably gets the most playtime after the ds), I would sell one but whats the point of it when the prices for cubes are so low? So I keep them both. They are even getting some playtime again with batalion wars and from what i experienced so far, mario strikers will replace smash bros as my daily played mp title (killer!).
Luckily I could sell my xblock a month ago for a good price, hated that pos anyway.

I haven't played it in a month...I just got Sly 3, and I'm just playing that now on consoles.

I really want DoR2 and Mario Strikers though, I'm sure I'll get one of those by the end of the year.

Nope, I set it on fire to teach Nintendo a lesson.

"More good games" is what I screamed at the burnt remains.

Then I took a piss on it.

Then I set fire to the urine soaked ashes.

I own one, i have owned one for a long time. I only have around 20 games for it...there are some good games that are missing from my lineup though.

DCX

I bought a cheap GC in November 2003. It was only $80 and came with the Zelda disc that i sold on Ebay for $40. The GC was probably the cheapest system i ever bought, but the worst when it came to games. The only games i really liked were Metroid Prime and Naruto 2. I tried but did not like GC exclusive games like Mario Sunshine, Zelda WindWaker, Metal Gear Twin Snakes, Metroid Prime 2, Resident Evil 4, and others i can't remember. I ended up selling the GC 4 months ago on Ebay and actually got some decent money for it. I tried selling locally first, but there was no interest in it, and the local EB only offered like $25 for it. The GC hardware is actually pretty good (except the awful controller layout), but the software is definitely not to my taste.

Gonna have to disagree with you on this one - granted the story overdoes it a lot (while both TOE and TOD have fairly cliched stories, they never go overboard), and granted 75% of the characters are annoying as hell.

TOS has some of the best puzzle design in the US released games (I'm still flipping over the stupid TOE puzzle when you're in the cave getting Gnome, and you can only hold a stick of dynamite, or a shovel, at one time... meanwhile you can hold a million Gummies in your inventory). Being able to see enemies on the dungeon maps alone really sold the deal for me (me being a veteran of TOPSFC, where you're getting attacked every 2 steps). Plus, I felt the battle system was the most balanced of any of the Tales games I have played (keep in mind I haven't played TOD2j, Rebirth, or Legendia yet). But then again I'm still a sucker for TOP and its PSX remake =P

And yes, I still own one. I own 45 games for it. I still regularly play Super Monkey Ball 1/2, Wario Ware Mega Party Games and Mario Kart. Every now and then I might start a new game on Mario Sunshine, Metroid, Zelda, BG&E etc too. Recently played Paper Mario, Baten Kaitos and Resident Evil 4 on it too, and after I'm done playing MGS3 on PS2 again, I might go back and play Twin Snakes again as well.

Next on the horizon? Battalion Wars, Fire Emblem, Dance Stage: Mario Mix. And as my Xbox has been bust up for months now (I got too mod-happy), I'm gonna get Gun on it and maybe one or two other third party titles.

I own mine. Playing MK:DD and Pac-Man World 2 on it at the moment.

I'm just one of those CRAZY guys who don't sell their consoles, only to pick them up again every 3 months, and continue the cycle, like some crazy bastards here.
