Does LttP mean Link to the Past or Late to the Party?

I've heard people claim both but I've mostly seen it on GAF and other (lesser) gaming forums so I always assumed it meant Link to the Past. If not, we should officially make it part of the GAF vocabulary because it was such a classic game and Late to the Party just sounds lame. That rhymes.

It depends on the context

Talking about a classic Zelda game LttP
Talking about a game/film/show everyone likes that you just discovered LTTP

why would anyone be talking about Link To The Past and another game?

If you're talking about Zelda then in context LTTP is Link To The Past but generally on a forum like this if a thread has LTTP then it's Late To The Party.

Now the question is, “is the “party” referring to the release date?”I get the general idea. So everyone liked it “at release” or “overtime”?

Of course it would be release date but I don't think a specific time post release is defined. I mean, at what point are you late? A week after release? 3 months? 6 months? A year? I'd say you can start a LTTP post after 1 year...possibly even 2 years.

Don’t be upset if you’re “late to the party”.
It doesn't bother me when I play a game. I'm such a slow player so it takes me a long ass time to get through a game so if a new game comes out I wanna play I might not get around to it for quite a while. Recently I've caught up to playing some games from ~2 years ago and I still have a lot of games from like 10-20 years ago that I've still to play lol. Everyone has their own pace and timeline. Of course if you want to talk about an old game there's nothing wrong with that so LTTP has it's place I suppose. It's more a question of when to use it.
