I guess I'm the only one :(

Great freaking episode this week (still half to go)

Race Bannon from Johnny Quest , and a right fine Fantastic Four parody. I shant give any details, as it comes on again tomorrow. Just be sure to catch it.

An appreciation thread of sorts.

I was lukewarm in the very beginning (as were the episodes) but I adore it now. The past few have all been beyond great, especially the Race Bannon stuff. I really like Dr. Orpheus and Triana as well, here's hoping they stick around.

Unfortunately, VB seems headed straight for the position of "Third Official AS Cancellation" (I refuse to acknowledge the supposed death of Space Ghost) with its dismal ratings. Hopefully it'll at least play out this one 13-episode season and make it to a nice little DVD release. Previous cards have shown it penciled in for a box set, but that was pre ratings fiasco.

We should start a support group or something. I fear the show will be cancled if the ratings don't pick up.

I'm a big fan of the show and my wife actually wants to watch it as well. I think that AS picked a bad night for the demographic that this show targets. They need to move it to Sunday with the stronger Sunday lineup.

My biggest problem with it is that Dr. Venture isn't funny at all. He's just sort of sardonic, but doesn't ever bring laughter. He's cocky, but not funny.

The rest of the show is great.

I like the show, but I've only seen one episode. I don't get Cartoon Network anymore so I guess I'll have to wait for the dvd. :(

I love the Venture brothers, but my love comes not from the show itself but rather my childhood fascination with Johnny Quest.

This show is awesome. There has got to be a second season, the time slot they have it in now sucks. They need to have it air on Sundays with the other big shows.

I think it's terrible. I'm actually glad to hear that it isn't doing so well ratings-wise, because I'd much rather have another show take its place.

Venture Bros. and new Sealab episodes are really dragging AS down for me.

I really like it. For some reason it reminds me of "The Tick", another great yet quicky cancelled cartoon.

Same writer from the tick. (he worked on both the animated and live action "Tick")

It's all Brock, man. Take the last episode...

"It's up my ass."
"What? Are you serious?"

IMHO, Venture Brothers is the best original Adult Swim series. I like Sealab and ATHF as much as the next person, but Venture is, well, to me more sophisticated in its humor. (Except when it's trying to be crass.) It credits the viewer with thinking a little more, and is less LOLOLOLOL every 5 seconds because it's intentionally more subdued and takes longer to set up punchlines. Seriously, at times I've started giggling an hour after the show as something fully sank in. I consider that to be a good thing - it makes me want to watch it again right away.

Doc Venture being more sardonic than delivery man for funny lines fits perfectly, in my view. He's the wet blanket and foil essentially, as well as being the straight man at times. He's not laugh out loud funny, but is enoyable to watch in action.

Unfortunately, Venture may end up not making it because it's not stereotypically Adult Swim enough for Adult Swim. Bleh. But it's not like this is a new phenomenon.

Would a Sunday timeslot truly help it? It currently airs at 12:30 during the Sunday block, where it gets similar ratings to its Saturday slot. AS tried to give a non-WS/Fox show a cherry timeslot with Home Movies, and that ended up killing it. It's just too esoteric and skews a bit older than the other shows on Adult Swim. You kind of need to be extremely nostalgic for Johnny Quest, whereas the other resurrected Hanna-Barbera icons (SG/Birdman) require no knowledge of the original shows. It's a shame, but we should just enjoy it while it lasts and hope that it somehow catches on.

Venture Brothers is on next for those who don't watch it regularly.

Comic fans (particularly fans of the Fantastic Four) should not miss this episode!

Thank you for this thread. I love Venture Brothers, and it would anger me greatly if this show went the way of Home Movies... Another AS favorite of mine. :(

I LOVE The Venture Bros.

In fact I've already created a DVD/Chapters menu for the DVD I've made for myself.

Take in mind I did this very quickly (too much workload) and had to rip the art from the episode rips. This is pretty much a slapjob I pulled together for a friend after he saw what I did for the DVD.

Where did you get the poster Agent Dormer?

According to a bump during the rebroadcast of Venture Bros. tonight, it will be switching slots with Futurama starting October 2nd. Honestly, it should've been in the 11:30PM slot to begin with as Futurama is a great lead-in and the highest rated Saturday show. Maybe this will be the spark the show needs!

TR: That is awesome!

This Friday we had an Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Live event at school. We had Dana Snyder, voice of Master Shake, and Dave Willis, co-creator and voice of Carl and Meatwad, come and give a presentation, do a little Q&A and show two of the episodes for the new season. The Adult Swim reps on campus had some posters and being the Director of Public Relations for the building holding the event, I managed to score a couple. (An Aqua Teen one signed by Dana and Dave, and the Venture Bros. one - and a free t-shirt too). I'm gonna post some pictures of the event on my blog soon.

I like VB too. I wish the Brothers, and the doc did more funny things though. It's mostly Brock & the wierd ass Johnny Quest type enemies that make me enjoy it.
