so i work in the retail business at the moment (i fucking hate it) and i noticed something about myself today that's kind of disturbing. I tend to be more helpful to black people than I do of people my own race. Like if a black person comes into the store and needs some help i'll pretty much do anything to make him or her happy. When, say, cracker comes in and wants service i fucking reluctantly help but most of the time in a half assed fashion. I'm not doing it out of fear of the black people or anything. Is this bad?

I think it's kinda wierd, but when I'm driving around, or doing anything... and I notice somebody that is black, it's like all of a sudden I'm aware of the fact that that person is black. Thus, I try and do everything I can to try and be as non-rascist as I can so that they won't think I'm some crazy southern white hick here to kill them. Maybe it's just some sort of "thing" that's been embeded in my pshyche by society, or my parents... I don't know.

That reminds me of the pilot for Curb Your Enthusiasm.

"I tend to nod to black people. Like as if to say I'm one of the "good guys"."

When I first saw that episode I was like "damn I so do that".

Common sense should tell most retailers or sellers in general that they should cater to black folks because we spend, spend, spend! Regardless of income or socio-economic rank.

Advertisers certainly caught on.

I remember when I was working retail some years ago... My manager would always hawk black people that came in to the store. Funny thing was, as she would do this, I'd notice those of the caucasion persuasion go to town, shoving sh!t in bags and what not. I'd just laugh.

Country Road no longer operates in the United States. Feels good to know that I may have facilitated their departure.

Just make sure you lick my boots when I come in, otherwise I'll cut you.
