Does WoW get better in the upper levels?

I have never subscribed or played any other besides World of Warcraft. My friends all pushed me into buying the game. Since I had been contemplating even before they bought it, the fact that the game got a great score, and that so many of my friends were playing, I bought it.

One thing that also hooked me in the Gamespot review was that it said players could feel rewarded with only thiry minutes to an hour of playtime per session.

The first night I played, I was hooked. The experience, though somewhat trivial and tedious now, I had killing young thistle boars, spiders, and wolves was somewhat new to me. I loved the aspects of the MMORPG that I had never experienced. Blah, blah, blah...

Anyway, after about two weeks of playing about three to four hours per day, I got kind of tired of the game. Some of my friends were already in the 30's and 40's so I couldn't quest with them. In addition, most of the quests I got were repeating themselves over with different names, locations, etc. They all include fighting this, collecting that. A lot of the fighting seemed pretty easy. I have one attack button - don't do much there. And then there's my rage button that I press when it loads up (I'm a warrior.)

As of now, I really have no desire to play. I could and would play. It's not boring, but just not really fun. I'd rather going play Halo 2 on Live. So does the game get better in the higher levels?

If you're only level 15 with 3-5 hours of play over 2 weeks...something's really, really wrong with how you're playing it. I've had the game for 2 weeks and I'm 25 and I rarely play more than perhaps an hour or 2 daily. I was at 15 within like the first 3 days.

Coming from a level 58 warrior, I'd seriously suggest changing classes. The first 20 though are AWFUL and I hated it until then.. once you get to 20, for some reason it balances out a little bit but you'll be underpowered your whole career in the game if you remain a warrior.

It may just not be your kind of game. Nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, I play maybe 2-3 hours a night 5 nights of the week. I've had the game for three weeks -- that's maybe 40 hours total -- and I'm level 22 as a priest. It's been a blast the entire time.

I think Tre and Drinky play a lot less than I do, and they're usually on my heels when it comes to leveling up.

Course I plunk quite a bit of time into fishing and herbing.

Couldn't agree more. From 10-19 as a Rogue I was just regretting my class and getting quite bored with the game. Once I hit 20 I had access to poisons and some awesome new abilities (Vanish, Cheap Shot) and I'm enjoying it so much more it's almost like a new game. I don't think the repetitiveness of quests gets much better but you're given more tools to work with, plus you've got so many more areas open to you at higher levels.

I thought WoW owned up until now....

and that Blizzard, is how you push fans away...

30 minute queue, game disconnects me while I'm grouped in an instance, 45 minute queue to get back.

You logging out of the game at inns? Or in towns at least... you earn rested exp that way. Doubles your earned exp for a fixed amout. Really helps leveling for those who don't have much time to play.

In terms of quests... they don't get much better at high levels. Same kill quests, same collection quests, just in different areas. The big draw of high levels are instances. I play those as much as I can and they're my main way of leveling up. Plus you can get amazing gear from them.

Only downside to instances is the fact that the grouping system in this game is horrid. It's a HUGE step back from other MMROGs I've played. There isn't even a LFG flag system in this game anymore... you just shout in a town over and over hoping people invite you. It's really difficult to find a group sometimes if you're not a Priest. That seems to be the class my instance groups can never get. I've had a ton of groups just disband because one could never be found. You should be ok for instances if you stick with Warrior, since they're a tank. But that's probably all you'll be doing. If you switch from Warrior you might want to pick a needed class if you don't have much time to play.

It took you two weeks of 4 hour play session per day to reach level 15? I could see how that would make the game feel tedious. I got 15 the night it came out...

Just a quick question, do you know of any onlines stores that have it in stock, and can ship to Japan? I believe EB ships internationally but they haven't had it in stock for a while now...

So on average, it only takes a few hours to reach lower-mid levels, and a couple weeks to start gaining the cooler abilities for most classes? Sounds like a dream compared to FFXI...

these sudden queues are ri-goddamned-diculous. got dropped from Lightbringer twice today, and got sent to the back of the line.

for like the third time in the past week, the wow forums are up in arms.

I'd just do like Meier suggested and get another class. Warriors are slam busted in this game, (especially their PvP side. I was going Orc 2h Ax Warrior, but guildmates talked me out of it, and I went Undead Priest. I know now why). GIVE ME MY SHOCK TROOP, BLIZZ!!!

I want Bliizard to allow me to transfer my characters to another server...Kil'Jaeden is fucking ridiculous now. Got warlock-portalled to Auberdine and as soon as I get past the loading screen to see my character there, the game disconnects me...number 603 with a 45-minute (so far) wait to get back in. And that's after I waited over two hours to get in tonight. Blizzard's fucking pissing me fucking off.

Yeah, I feel like I'm on an old skool BBS. Things were fine on Uther until today - 45 minute wait to get in. I guess the solution to the server issues are "gimp everyone."

quests really dont change in their format. There are some crazy ones out there if you can find em with whacky rewards. They arent all you have to kill this and return. I got a quest called Gamerita where i had to observe a certain sea turtle in the hinterlands and take its pictures. And I think everyones done ambercrombie and stitch heh, you can try and take em down if ya want. I see as this, this is an rpg, which is all about the journey to the max level, quests rock because doing what you'd be doing anyway (grinding) give lots of bonus xp, and items/money. Since your mostly soloing your not going to be doing the more insane quests like Gahzrilla, but you will be able to do quests like rescuing the homing becons and stuff. Only really "diff" quests are your tradeskill quests.

Nice to see some other Tichondrius players around. It's a good server when it's not laggy, you're not getting disconnected and there isn't a 1000+ queue.

Oh wait, that's almost all the time. I guess it's a shitty server :/
I'm such a bitch I'll suck it up and wait anyway. I just play in window mode so I can read GAF until I'm able to get in.

I'll also chime in with the rest of the people talking about warriors sucking. I'm a 34 orc 1h sword/shield warrior and in pvp with any other class that isn't magic based/weak hps I get annhilated. Usually I'm in a group, so I do okay, but I just got owned the other day by a level 26 night elf hunter - he just had more flexable abilities and was able to hold me in place, pick me off from far away and sic his pet on me. Nothing I could do but helplessly shoot him with my gun and that didn't do much as once he found out he was far enough away to be in range, he moved forward until he was too close for me to shoot.

I'm sure they'll fix warriors eventually, but until then it's a tough class to play well - I know I don't have an easy time of it

Has the Chinese currency selling mafia infiltrated the game yet?

Ya there is an entire guild of them on my server, all korean, who sit in Azshara all day long farming gold/items. Its kinda funny when they run up to you and try to sell you some random item with their very broken english.
