I think any kind of USB dongle gets hot. My Bluetooth dongle and my USB Flash drive both get warm after being connected for a little bit.

Well, USB *is* powered, and these little things do emit strong signals (for their size)... So yes, running hot should be expected with the Nintendongle.

It hasn't frozen up on me, but I do find that my computer gets a little chuggy sometimes with the thing plugged in.

yeah I get weird performance with it as well. Sometimes Nintendo wifi stops connecting properly and it fights with bittorrent on occasion. It's extremely hot as well.
