Don't expect Prince of Persia Warrior Within to drop to $20 anytime soon

ame retails at $49.99 unless you got in on an early promo offer.

Don't expect this game to drop to $19.99 for a while. As a matter of fact - The Sands of Time didn't drop to $19.99 until July. We ran a promo with Splinter Cell in January to get more eyes on the game but that was pretty much it.

BG&E was a different story.

p.s.
Don't let the media fool ya - we got off to a slow start but picked up as time went on. We've sold over a million units across all platforms and we're currently on Greatest Hits and Plantinum Hits (PS2 & Xbox respectively). It crept up.

This is from Mr. B, he works for Ubisoft and on Prince of Persia Warrior Within....

So for all the people here who are thinking it'll drop to $20 in a month... Its not going to happen.

its just not a good time to release it. Im interested, but i dont have the time to play it this year. With work, school, halo2, GTA SA (and soon) KOTOR2 i just dont have the energy to step into a new game world.

January is pretty much packed too, Jade Empire and RE4. I'll most likley forget about it and pick it up cheap sometime in 2005. So this news doesnt really bother me

is it still cool to hate this game on GAF ? as I kind of liked the recent screens :lol

I think the "hip, darker, edgier Prince!" vibe has turned a lot of GAFers off. Also, there seems to be more focus on combat instead of puzzles this time around. And it doesn't help that games like God of War and Wanda and the Colossus are on the horizon to give the action genre a breath of fresh air.

I'm going to guess you can ACTUALLY rent this and finish in a day. 1 weekend will stop all your POPWW cravings. I know that's what I will be doing.

It was always just a rental anyway.

He doesn't control what the stores do. Any store could drop that baby like it's hot if it isn't selling.

I think if they'd just cut the crap and said "PLEASE BUY OUR GAME AT LAUNCH" id be more inclined to do so than i am after that blatent bluff.

Um, yeah, I'll pass and lets just see how long it takes Best Buy or Circuit City to get sick of having all those extra unsellable copies of PoP:WW before they drop it themselves.

Bundle another good Ubi game in with it and I might buy it though. Like hey, Pandora's Tommorow. Be like last time, and I'd buy it for Xbox fo sho.

Now I hope this game bombs

I agree... don't come up in here with idle threats. If you want your game to sell, then show us why we need to buy it. GAF is a fairly hardcore gaming community and we're not going to wait for a price drop if the game is worth buying. Take that shit to the soccer mom forums.

With that statement, you've just proven to me that your game isn't worth $50... as far as I'm concerned, it can rot in the bargain bin.

Yeah. What is being said is so incredibly transparent. You might as well buy the game NOW if you're interested, cause we ain't dropping. So you suckers who think you can wait till after Christmas and get it cheap are SORELY mistaken.

:lol

BTW, retailers DO NOT drop the prices directly. They wouldn't take any such hit on a newly released title. What they do do is use their purchasing power to force the publisher to give them price protection to a lower amount. If they don't get thier way, they'll return as much as they possibly can and buy much lower quantities in the future, and finally, they won't particpate in Point-Of-Purchase programs, advertising, etc that are crucial to a games success.

Basically, retailers for the most part control the relationship (unless you have a Halo 2, GTA:SA, or hardware and can force some terms)

Ugh... this is annoying.

I guess AEG is employed by UbiSoft.

I am actually getting PoP, but this is ridiculous.

He's a liar. Early Jan, Blockbuster and Woolworths were doing it for 20.

Same here. Come on man...I called him out as a viral marketer in another thread and he didn't even say anything to argue against my point. I wouldn't draw this conclusion unless I had seen enough, fess up dude...At least tell us why you're spewing PoP PR for free if I'm wrong.

ROTFLMAO!

So what was BG&E's story? WELL!?

I HATE YOUR LAME ASS PRINCE OF PERSIA AND EVERYTHING YOU'RE RELATED TO.

Why can't you viral market BG&E instead of THIS!?!?!?!

Maybe they're just pissed cause the game is already leaked

heee haaa

And Gamespot isn't even running a story cause no one cares about the game!

Why not just release Prince of Persia Warrior Within at $19.99?

This would be the smart move. Instead they jacked the price up 10 bucks which is a slap in the face to gamers everywhere. I'm with Wario I really hope this game bombs now.

bomb bomb

i've got zero interests in this game to begin with, and with your post I now have negative interests in PoP:WW.

Mr UBISOFT viral marketer. Look what you've made GAF do. We now officially hate this game and want it to bomb and then we can maybe not pick it up for $10. Hopefully you get your goddamn ass fired.

Doesn't matter. I'm not buying it until it hits $20 or less. If it doesn't drop I simply won't buy it at all.

It'll drop quickly or will be quickly bundled with another game (SC2, or PoP SoT) whatever.

I've already got mine on preorder, but this game won't do well this holiday season, imho.

I think that, since this holiday season is more crowded than last year when the first one came out, it is inevitable that Warrior Within will sell significantly worse than the first. Next to nothing on cube, barely anything on xbox, and mediocre on the hardly-starved-for-platformers PS2.
