Banishers is a good game. That's why we are infested of purple hair gaas crap games. Gamers don't buy the good ones.
Yeah, the latest purple hair gaas game really did set the world on fire during the few days it was available...

Everytime a game performs below expectations people here blame "purple hair" and throw that meaningless "woke" word around.
Its not that simple.

Jusant was brilliant, but obviously not a title that would set the world on fire. It was also on Game Pass day one.
Banishers was just middle of the road in every aspect, and it had some pretty heavy competition during its release window.

Wow. I had not heard of either games. Banished looks interesting. I may check it out. Just too many games to play. I really do not have time to play even half of what I would like to.

What time is it?

Jusant is about ~4 hours long. It's also, or was, on Game Pass.

I enjoyed Justant is was... alright... I think the game was missing a wow moment, largely because it took away much of the climb by cutscnes or load jumps. Right from the start I looked down and saw that we had already traveled a great distance up. That was my first problem, why didn't I start the climb at the bottom? And the game kept skipping the climb from there. Eventually they just gave up and gave you a whale to take you the rest of the way.

Felt sadly like they just missed the opportunity to make something great.

I didn’t enjoy Jusant and quit after a couple hours playing it on Game Pass. Banishers looks decent but I’m basically just waiting for its inevitable move to Game Pass or PS+.

I don’t think there’s a market for AA games anymore.

Isn't jusant just climbing stuff. That's the worst part of most games. Uncharted, Zelda, God of War, etc.

The other game has a bad name and bad cover art. Saw it at Walmart and figured it was shovelware.

Banishers really had everything to be a killer 15-20h Sony SP like experience (setting, mood, dialogues, characters) but it was wayyyy too bloated and clearly did not have the depth to justify its 50h+ runtime, leaving a somewhat bitter impression overall as the games spreads itself way too thin and ends up being exhausting at the end (I stopped at the 55h mark).

Its a shame really as they really did only need to remove a lot of the fat and maybe spend the saved budget to improve just a little bit production value and tighten the gameplay with no extra cost overall, and I am sure it would have got up to +5 metacritic points and made much more an impact.

I really do not understand why they felt that the game needed to be so long.

Man jusant is such an amazing game. I was touched by that game.

Sadly life is unfair, gems like jusant dont sell and recycled crapola like cod sells
Sure but, this needs to be said...those buying COD clearly are buying cause something is being delivered that they are ok to spend money on.

We've seen series come and go, people are not just solely buying something only based on name alone or something, that is harder to maintain then I think some really realize, look at all the IP we've seen die, teams close down etc.

For this game, it seems maybe their marketing was off cause I forgot about this game legit right after it was announced.
Never tried Jusant. Banisher didn’t tickle my fancy.
To Edge's point too, it doesn't help if the game isn't fun....

If a game is legit and people think its fun, sometimes even with little marketing, that word of mouth can help do the heavy lifting.

It'd probably help if the names of the two games were better.
Doesn't help that the names are basically forgettable.

Look SpearHea.:D SpearHea.:D enough comments have given some solid reasons on why this didn't do good.

I don't see it as unfair, these are just reasons.

So I'm not going to sit here and pretend COD is just some easy thing that folks should support, something clearly is being done to have folks buy every year that is effective.

Its fun, it has a name folks can remember lol

Maybe this studio can learn at least from those ideas. Everything doesn't always need to be "new" focus on being fun first and have a solid marketable name AND then we can talk about new ideas, being new doesn't mean something will be fun and I think folks get a bit too carried way with that notion as if being different automatically must mean folks will care

I had never heard of Vanisher's until I saw a demo for it on the PSN, which I ignored until someone here told me it was by the same team that made Vampyr. I then immediately downloaded the demo and then never got around to trying it. My backlog is just too big.

As for Jusant... I've literally never heard of this game until this thread.

I think Don't Nod needs to do something about their advertising budget.

I enjoyed both, but tbh Banishers release date sent it to die (between like 4 big RPGs) and Jusant was a hard sell for most players.

They should have made Vampyr 2.
Yeah, Banisher release date was terrible. It was just asking to get lost during other bigger releases.

I have no idea what Jusant is which is probably part of the issue.

I was kinda turned off by the demo of Jusant.

I played the PC demo and the performance was horrible, it had forced upsampling (not sure if it was TSR or FSR2) and had super random framerate drops while almost nothing was on screen.

Banishers is an amazing game. It's the type of game a lot of people here ask for- a good AA single player game with no woke agenda no microtransactions, good story and interesting setting etc.
Yet no one bought it.
Don't even know what it is. This studio put out life is strange and sequel. Both woke games from what I heard. Yet there was vampyr which I thought was great of course vampyr was more in my wheelhouse as I love Gothic horror. That being said they aren't in my radar.

I buy what appeals to me and usually on sale, outside of decade rpgs like Witcher 3, ff16, dragons dogma 2, cyberpunk, fire emblem, ys, and bg3, which I buy day 1. Lots of pc and switch indies.

I got Banishers, but still haven’t had the chance to try it yet. I think one problem with the industry as well is that there are just WAY too many games available and coming out consistently. I heard there were literally thousands of games released on Steam in a year. Unfortunately, those games as good as they may be probably got lost in the proverbial shuffle like so many other games.

i tried to like banisher, but there's just something ponderous/oppressive about it. i get that these aren't happy times, story-wise, but i'm thinking either i wasn't ready for it at the time i checked it out, or i'd likely never be ready for it, considering how long it goes on. not a big fan of extended misery...

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden released digitally last year and it's physical release came months later this year.
It had Zero marketing so this kinda expected really.

A woke company, that's a no for me for anything they produce.
The 1st Life is Strange is really good, and is only woke if you want it to be as nothing is forced on the player because they allow the player to choose the type of relationships you have with the other characters. If u watched and enjoied movies like Donnie Darko and you skipped the 1st Life is Strange, then you are missing out. The other Life is Strange games are just ok, not near as good as the 1st one.
