Well, I haven't played Dota1 since 2004 and only played League of Legends occassionally (and against bots too, to my great shame). So, I'll probably be the one perpetrating a great deal of stupidity.
Are there inhouses every night or just around the weekend?

Are abandons not punished for bot matchmaking? ... Its really annoying when every game someone abandons after dying to bots...

They are useful for test driving heroes before jumping into normal matching.

Having never played Dota or any over moba I knew there'd be a lot to learn but damn my first experience was fun. Just played against easy AI and got pummeled, I've watched enough tournaments to have a basic idea of what's happening and what to do but the mechanics befuddle me for now. So used to games where you target units differently, and I didn't figure out how to interrupt/adjust my auto attacks (played as Chen in very first game) to get last hits so I couldn't farm properly. Abilities and items are obviously a total mystery but I'm sure that'll come later. I did kill one of the bots by getting my creeps on him, hitting the spell that increases his damage I think and using the ulti when we were low on health. For an absolute noob like me it was satisfying a least. 
The main interface is sweet, I loved just watching some presumably really good players in their live match. Runs great on my modest PC, Im likely off to buy a new keyboard this afternoon (won some $ playing poker last night, going to get the Tt Meka g1) but I already can't wait to play some more.

I heard that someone said if you watched a replay before, this bug would happen. It happened to me when I joined a game after watching. Were you watching a replay? Restarting dota worked for me, like others had said.

Happened to me twice already. Haven't watched a replay in over a month.
AM's ulti also damages enemies around the hero he uses it on. Though not a lot though (depending on how much mana they have) That's why it's so amazing he got a triple kill with it.

btw just owned some people on pub with Viper, 7 - 2. I prefer to press QQQQQ instead of alt+Q everytime.
You don't draw creep aggro if you go qqqqqqq, and also it's probably easier to orb walk then

Well, not really, but it looked like it. It was Weaver's swarms, so my creeps blocked me trying to kill it and then as my tower hit it I died, so it looked like I got killed by the tower.
