I don't know what happened, but I can no longer launch apps by dragging a file over to the application icon. I can do it under my admin accounts, but not my limited ones. Any suggestions as to how to fix it?

you can do that? but why wouldn't you just double click the file? unless it was associated with a different app and you didn't want to ctrl click/ right click

You can also drag stuff(files, text, or even URLs) to dock items which is probably more useful.

As for why it doesn't work for him now... beats me. AFAIK, there isn't any difference between an admin or a limited account except for the ability to pull up the password-for-admin-stuff window.

The only thing I can think of offhand is that the limited accounts may not have permission to use the application so you may want to check the Accounts preference pane. While I'm more skeptical that repairing permissions may do the trick, it wouldn't hurt to try that either in case they got corrupted (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility > Repair Permissions).

Ya, do a permissions repair and throw away the dock and Finder prefs files from User/Library/Preferences, logout/login and try again.
