Yeah, I remember they gave Carl Clover that hat for hitbox reasons so they probably will avoid short characters.
Gohans SS2 hair does help his hitbox a lot though.

This game is 3 on 3 so you'd want a big roster just to avoid mirror matches.

In terms of Super characters (outside the ones introduced in movies), only Hit and Black/Zamasu have enough material to make moves out of. Maybe Kale, but that would just be taking Broly's moveset. Caulifa's cool, but what has she done yet that Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta don't already do. Even moreso with Cabba.

Whis would be OP in that case.It would be neat if there were an optional mode where power levels match the show. So you could play as Beerus vs Satan, but any movement from Beerus would obliterate him.

Caulifa hasn't even officially had a fight yet outside deflecting one of Kale's attacks. We know next to nothing of her fighting style other then she is supposedly a fighting genius. I want both her and Kale in but they probably won't be at launch maybe dlc.
It's not that short when you add in his hair.
But they either have to use hair shortcuts for hitbox purposes, or scale characters to look bigger than they should on screen.
First one I've give you since it's very likely that 18 will be the only girl in this game, so more female would be welcome.
Second one can be said for most of the potential cast.
I'm thinking more of moveset potential if this game ends up only having 20 characters or so. So far, most of the moves seems to be replicating iconic scenes from the manga/anime, which would apply to any of the new characters from the new arc. We haven't seen her or Cabba do anything different from any other Saiyan. Just trying to avoid 1/3 of the cast just being Saiyan beam characters like every other DBZ game.
I'd say save her for DLC down the road.

I'm a fan of having some Super characters in the game but I'm very against Cauli & Kale right now and wouldn't expect them in until like a late DLC pack at most.

No it isn't, check the title again.
Besides, games being called Dragon Ball Z never stopped DB and GT characters from getting in, so even if this actually was called Dragon Ball Z it wouldn't mean anything.
The US broadcast is a few episodes away from the first original arc of Super and that arc will be over by the time this game comes out

I want to be more realistic as a fan and knowing how tough game development is, As fun as characters like Dabura and Yamcha are, we don't need them for launch. I would love to be wrong though

Because he never appears in the video games.

He's a fighter in 2 arcs of Super, one of which is based on the highly successful movie Resurrection F.
The latest episode was amazing for all fans, such a treat. Super has come a long way so yeah, I totally recommend watching it.
Edit: Roshi should freaking learn to fly already! Dude's slacking.

I don't understand the hate on Super. Yeah, it doesn't get good until episode 28 (just watch the movies), but even a handful of episodes before the Universe 6 tournament were fun. It's new Dragon Ball stuff written by Toriyama. The saiyans in Universe 6 give a unique perspective on the race, Hit and Frost have cool characteristics (don't wanna post in depth spoilers), and Goku Black and Zamasu are two of the best villains the series has had. I don't see how this is any less "Dragon Ball" than the original series or Z like some try to argue.

Since we'll probably have two Gokus and Vegetas, one for Super Saiyan and one for Blue I'm guessing there might be two Trunks, one Z and one for Super. The form deference and move differences are obvious from there.
Well mine wasn't really a roster prediction or wishlist, just something I did to allocate teams of 3 after a theme like KoF, and I couldn't think of an "Old Masters" team, cause I could only think of him and the crane guy, also a team with him and Yajirobe, but couldn't think of a third person (Launch?)

The main characters and main villains from the tv show are there, but several minor villains are missing, like Dabura, 19 and 20. Many forms are missing too, like Freeza's 2nd and 3rd forms, Cell's 2nd form, Super Buu's Gotenks and Gohan absorptions.
Several movie villains are still missing too, although the most popular ones are there (aside from Wheelo and Hirudegarn who are just too big, Garlic Jr, Android 13, and all henchmen haven't been added yet. Bojack is in through DLC, but only in base form).
