Not sure this is a good sign for the roster :x .

Maybe in the sequel they'll update the OG characters with Super moves and costumes.
 
I wonder if they'll stick with the tech he knows in the Androids Saga then.

Burning Attack, Shining Sword Attack and Heat Dome Attack are all a given for him I think.

Would be cool if he had Change the Future from Raging Blast and the Xenoverse games, which is treated as a counterattack - parries for days.

They gave him that in Extreme Butoden.

I don't think it fits Trunks very much to be honest. He's certainly not the guy I see as dodging and countering stuff, he was just so powerful 18's beam did no damage. I would hardly call it a counter type move.

Hopefully they have actual characters that revolve around dodging and countering.
 
The character reveals are off to a boring start. Hopefully they will pepper in a couple of cool characters in between the obvious picks.

As a huge Dragon Ball fan, I have no interest in this game whatsoever.

As in you are a fan of Dragon Ball, but not Dragon Ball Z? Because that is definitely how I feel, but the game looks so damn good that I am interested and just hoping some of the classic Dragon Ball characters make the roster...

No. When I say Dragon Ball, I mean the entire franchise. I don't like that the game stops for a few seconds when you land a hit or get hit.

Also I'm not a fan of that roster or upcoming roster in the OP.

They're usually the kind of characters I gravitate towards in fighting games - Who else would fit this sort of bill then?

Burst Rush is another which is treated as a counterattack in other games, so Ultimate Gohan maybe?

17's Android Barrier could also be used in this instance I guess.

Trunks design in Super is GT tier.
But at least on PC, we may get color change for blue/silver/velvet hair.

So, it seems like your first complaint is more you being at odds with competitive fighting games. Hitstop is important for a 2D fighter. Knockdowns are important for fighting games.

As for the roster... we really don't have much of one yet. I mean, so far we only really know that the usual suspects are going to be in it. We don't have any more information than that.
 
And in a surprise to nobody Trunks is in. I'm just glad to have the confirmation even if there wasn't a doubt in my mind about it. Can't wait to see him in action.

Plus I don't care about his design as it's fairly similar, I cared about all the sword attacks and special moves he had in Super.

But yeah, as the title suggest, it may focus on Z, which is great imo. One or two from Super might appear though. As DLCs I guess.
 
Seems in line with everything else they've announced so far, and was predictable. I don't particularly like his Super design so I'm not exactly cut up about that. I really hope his victory screen is him using the sword on the other player, who the camera is fixated on in first person, and then the screen splits in two.

I hate GT and love Super, but Super designs leave a lot to be desired.
When they're not overdesigning GT designs felt in line with Z.

I never have. It always looked aesthetically ugly to me, doesn't matter if there was a practical reason. I'm more attracted to the look of fighting games that don't have it in a more extreme way.

The reasons why its in there isn't just mechanical, it also there because it looks fucking rad.

But I'm glad you spoke on that, there are a lot of visual presentation things in fighting games I hear people say that sometimes they can't explain exactly what they mean. I'm interested in hearing preferences.
 
If I'm thinking of the term correctly (I'm probably wrong), something having no hit-stop just reminds me of elder scrolls battles, which I've never been fond of, because it feels like you're just attacking thin air, and not a target. And their health is just coincidentally going down. Not that the genres are remotely comparable. That's just what springs to mind when I think of something with no hit-stop.
 
I mean you've gotta have some kind of reaction. I don't think any fighting game I've played/seen has absolutely no feedback. Smash Bros is one I'm thinking of with much less noticeable hitstun and I wouldn't describe it as "elder scrolls" at all. I was attracted to Injustice because of its fighting presentation, and regardless of all the recent animation critiques, it's still one of the better fighting games (for me) to look at.

I weirdly think it looks fine with this game but maybe it's just cause I put it aside in thoughts of "DBZDBZDBZ"
 
I'm not sure I understand these complaints. The game looks fluid as hell.

It's just the hitstop that's being referred to. That doesn't make it technically not fluid, especially for people who like hitstop. That's just the easy way for people who find hitstop unappealing to explain it when they see a fighting game with a heavy use of of hitstop.
 
ArcSys are masters at making it look anime, but sadly this goes over most peoples head.

They maintain keyframes longer than traditional videogames to emulate how an actual anime or any cartoon for that matter, actually moves and propagates throw the screen.

btw, have you guys noticed if both players hit the pursuit button on the same time, both players clash? looks freaking AMAZING
I wonder if its the player that press a button first that gets the attack after clash.

If golden Frieza is in then at least the movies are being counted. So I'd expect Beerus to be a character.

There are fighting games with hitstop that is much less noticeable, which is obviously the alternative.

For this game, I don't really care either way. His comment was a general comment on fighting games which I was responding to.

But the budokai's look great in that respect to me.

Yeah that was sure a reason to get mad when he's gonna be blonde 99% of the time anyway.

Yay for Trunks. I’m still mad they made trunks a pansy against the androids and cell and then decided to make him the Chuck Norris of DBS :/

Even Tenshinhan was surprised that someone that managed to defeat Freiza so easily ended up becoming a jobber at the hands of the artificial humans
