Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero |OT| And This... Is To Go... Even Further Beyond!

This thread is slowing my pc down. :messenger_grinning_sweat:
nice OT, actually took some time to load on mobile

There's a warning right at the start of the thread, but yeah, it's a bit heavy on loading.

Just like transformations in the anime.

All part of my thread plan.

Are fushions a thing?

I hope transformations have some epic animations as well, not just a simple 'poof, you are SSJ now'

The transformations and fusions animations are probably the best of all the dragon ball fighting games. Graphically wise the best game is still DB FighterZ, but to do what was done in this game (Sparking Zero), with these many characters, Arc System Works would need at least 20 years to pull that off.

Might rewatch some of my favorite movies and give this one a go.

Does it focus a lot on Super? Never watched that, but loved DB and DBZ.

There is only one thing I want in a possible sequel....destructive finishes, like the Budokai series and Dragon Ball Fighterz. Seeing those beams attacks flying through the planet's atmosphere is the best. And maybe more complex cutscenes for the story, but then again, story was never the budokai series primary focus...

Also, completely random, but when the intro started playing limit break x survivor (the Tournament of Power arc in dbs intro theme) i fucking lost it, absolute banger and it fit so damn well.

I may need to buy the anime ost for the game (though im sad neither includes ultimate battle/ ka ka kachi daze)

Probably the less covered DB one is the original, with only Kid Goku and Master Roshi making the cut.

There's probably gonna be some OG DLC down the road, with King Demon Piccolo, General Blue and so on.

I would say Super covers quite a bit of the roster, specially because it's the most recent DB. First DLC in theory will be Super movie, bringing the Gammas and Beast Gohan, which everyone will wanna play.

Still, DBZ is still insanely well covered too.

Imma just gonna main my Ultimate GOAThan.

I never bothered with FighterZ because it's 2D limited.

Wait they used Genkai Toppa as the intro song? I saw the Ignite the Spark trailer and thought they would go with the theme used there.

That's pretty cool. Genkai Toppo hypes the game even more.

But still doesn't top Budokai 3 intro.

I hope the next one focuses on story and not playing single character fights. That's the biggest negative for me. BT2 had an amazing story mode.

Yeah! It caught me by surprise too!
For me budokai 3 has the best animated intro, but budokai 2 has the best intro track

Bonus points: its the original japanese version too, they didnt just randomly shoehorn the english cover or some instrumental version like the BT titles

I think Super is trash, the artstyle is horrible and the new characters are lame, except some ones like Jiren.
As much as I love Akira Toriyama artstyle I was kind done with DBZ after Majin Buu Saga, to me story ended there....I just didn't care for GT or other DB after that.

Super erased GT from being canon.
If you get a chance you should check out the Tournament of Power Arc.
It's a huge battle royale and best of all Master Roshi and Android 17 become relevant again.

Is there a way to counter attacks from the back? The block and counter seems to only work for front attack

Anyone try it on the steam deck yet? I'm curious how it holds up (and whether or not it can play online due to the anti cheats)

second biggest after Tobal 2 but otherwise definitely. Its a few characters higher than BT3

Comparatively the raging blast games have half this roster count

I think Tobal 2 have 200 characters and Sparking Zero have 182. But Sparking Zero also have 20 upcoming DLC characters

Man, they really went all out on fan service with the what if scenarios.

Just spoiled myself with what they did on Zamasu Saga...and hot damn.

It's the way it was supposed to be.

Finally completed Goku's campaign, what a damn trip. My only complaint is I wished that it added some movie battles but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed it (when it wasnt kicking my ass)
Yup it was because they wanted to make him the main character over goku after Z but they realized Goku was too popular to fully replace so they turned him into a side character again lol.
TotallyNotMark actually made a good point that it was less about that and just Gohan's personality. Goku and Vegeta are actionary characters, its much easier to write for them because theyre usually the reason for the plot to happen. Gohan is reactionary, he doesnt push the story forward he just follows.

Gohan sucks, eternal failure, only good things he's ever done is hurting raditz and fighting freeza.
ultimate jobberhan couldn't even catch a damn earring, watch him fumble beast the next time we see it.

I remember BT on PS2 took me a minute to vibe with the controls. So many moves to and button combos to remember. Did Super training without issue but in battle I get wrecked. Any tips?

Shitty writing doesnt make him a shitty character. He only fumbled because toriyama WANTED goku and vegeta to fuse

This. Ultimate Gohan is peak cocky Gohan.

Never forget:

Shame they changed his other line. In japanese it's even more raw :messenger_loudly_crying:

That doesn't matter, with that reasoning no character could be faulted because "it's the writer"; gohan sucks, he's been on the fumble train since after namek, complete waste of a character.

I mean if we really wanna talk jobbers, thats vegeta
Vegeta was the only character in all DBZ that actually had character development in all anime imo. Akira ( rest in peace ) almost killed Vegeta character after Z, tbh i think super was a disgrace and almost killed the franchise for me, that "we need the Power of 5 sayans to make a SSJG using a fetus was my limit for a time.

Oh dont get me wrong, vegeta is absolutely one of my favorite characters (especially in the super manga from moro onwards)

But hes still constantly treated as a stepping stone to gauge a new threats power for goku (and yes, even gohan in the cell saga) to save the day

Is it worth just for the single player? Is it comparable to SF6, e.g.?

There are 2 genres that i don't dare to touch the MP. Fighting games and RTS.

Theres several playable character campaigns and after 20 hours Ive only just barely finished goku's 100%, so I'm already finding my moneys worth.

You can also play offline against bots in 1v1 standard battles, team battles or tournament mode.

PLUS you can even customize your own battles with cinematics. Its pretty cool.

I dont play competitively either but thats only like 1/4th of the game

playing these games competitively is a nightmare, they are impossible to balance, there's more focus on single player and just fighting your friends IRL.
you'll get more out of this SP wise than SF6.

I didnt know Dragon Ball Z was this popular. Wow.
Oh yeah, insanely popular. Which is a given since its often regarded as the grandfather of all shonen anime. That and people, like me, grew up with Z on toonami back in the 90's/00's

Its easily up there with one piece and pokemon as some of the biggest anime to exist
