Dragon Quest IX: Tag Mode & Multiplayer meetups, in your hometown!

I grabbed my first map at the comic con in chicago and now I have a question! It is a level 1 map outside of one of the starting maps yet the boss kicks my ass! What gives? Do you have to outlevel these things or what?

The level of the map has no correlation to what level your characters should be.

So what is the purpose of marking maps with levels?
It's the level of the map, higher level maps will feature more floors, stronger monsters and better loots.

The name of the map also factors into this (a "diamond" map have better stuff than a "rock" map).

Sadly I think my girlfriend and I are the only ones who own this game in Portland, OR :lol

We're older gamers (34 - me/27 her) so we might have to canvass nonchalantly as meeting up with 15 year olds in a mall might be taken the wrong way.

"DUDE, I just wanted to get into his grotto"
"Come with me sir, you have the right to remain silent"
"My girl wanted in on the action too! Honey! Why are you ignoring me!?"
"Do you know this man ma'am?"
"No sir"
"NooOOoooOO, I just wanted his Metal Slime Grotto!"

It'd be nice if there was a centralized webpage for this other than Twitter (or is there and I missed it?).

Not that I'm aware of, no. I'm open to suggestions, though I can't really spend a lot of time running the whole thing either.

It doesn't really seem like it's that high-volume that a Twitter search doesn't work; it's just that not too many people are actually picking up on using Twitter for it, really.

Lansing, MI meetup is go, by the way. 5-9 pm. tomorrow, here: http://maps.google.com/places/us/mi/east-lansing/trowbridge-rd/970/-woody's-oasis?hl=en

Oh I wasn't insinuating you should create one, just a general musing more than anything. I really wish Nintendo would have found a way to go Tag mode over WiFi for NA.

This thread (and, sadly, the idea) kinda died out, but we're still doing somewhat regular meetups in Grand Rapids, MI. Next one is Friday the 10th from 5 to 9 p.m. at the RiverTown Crossings food court again. Should have at least three people there, so it won't be boring :)

DragonCon was fantastic for canvassing, I just wish I had known that you could only canvass three at a time. I got thirty two people over the weekend and a map with a floor of nothing but metal king slimes.

I highly recommend any good nerdy cons to anyone for canvassing.

For anyone in Atlanta, I suspect Anime Weekend Atlanta will be good too.

I did manage to fill my inn in Lansing and have a bunch of good MKS maps already, so I am not so much about canvassing myself any longer, though I do of course like to share where I can. For me, multiplay is still a good deal of fun, and an excellent way to pass the time.

I just finally got this game and now I need to find some people in the Seattle area to tag. Anybody? I need to get some good treasure maps and upgrade my inn!

I just tweeted to gauge interest for Phoenix, AZ. Some of my coworkers and I would love to meet up to trade maps and MP some grottoes! Hope to meet some of you soon.
