Dragon Warrior IV

The hell with Viewtiful Joe. I'm gonna start playing DWIV now... thanks for getting me in the mood.

Still haven't managed to get Ragnar. I wanted all of my crew to be level 20 before I even attempted it. But, once I hit that milestone, I thought it'd be nice to do some sailing and exploring instead. And because it's Dragon Warrior, I was able to do just that. Found a Seaside Village in the middle of nowhere, and got a Stone of Drought. Found a cool River town called, amusingly enough Riverton, and bought some crazy equipment there. 2 Sacred Robes for some of my weaker mages, a Sword of Lethargy for Loto, a Dragon Killer Sword for him too (though I'm using the weaker Lethargy weapon for now), as well as Dragon Mail and Dragon Shield for him. I'm broke now, but happy. Wandering around a bit more, looking for Small Medals, other towns I might have missed. Also looking for the dude that takes in my Small Medals, as I have way too many of them, and don't feel like banking them. Once I find the Small Medal King, I'll go and get the Magic Key and, afer that, Ragnar.

If you have the world map, it's really easy to find the Medal King.

Replaying the game is fun with Swords of Malice filling Taloon's inventory; go buying a Dragon Killer as soon as you get the ship. :)

Yeah, I suspect the Medal King is on the island in the upper left hand corner of the map. That's actually where I'm headed to now. :)

Watch out for Lethal Armors and Bomb Crags.

You should hop onto IRC sometime so this chat topic can go and I can stop reviving it. :lol

I actually don't know a thing about IRC. Wanna educate me a bit?

Bomb Crags? I've plowed through a dozen or so of them without problems. Lethal Armors? Perhaps 3 dozen of them fell without a hitch.

Just took out a set of 3 Metal Babbles in one battle. All of my guys went up 2 levels. :0

This crypt thing that I can't fully enter was a nice discovery. No luck finding the Metal King, though. I thought what turned out to be Stancia was it, but no dice. I did get the Zerinthian Helm, however, after making the king laugh. That was neat.

Now I'm trying to get to Burland to get the shield, but I cannot remember where Burland is! All I know is that it's where Ragnar started off (which reminds me, I should probably get to him so that he's not 1/3 of the level of my quickly approaching 30 party), and I'm hovering near Endor looking for it. Or the Metal King.

I was just about to suggest this thread be renamed "Scarlet and Mej discuss Dragon Warrior IV." :)

This thread really makes me want to play through the game again but I have no freaking time.

If you still can't find the Medal King (Metal Kings are something completely different,
he's at the NE corner of the map
.

If you look at the map, its at the very top center part. Just sail east of Stancia (or west from the Medal King) and you should see the tower you went to in Chapter 1
.

Didn't see a reply to this, oops!

Thanks. I found the Medal King eventually, but not Burland, yet. In the interim, I got the Magic Key, raided some treasuries that key granted me access to, wiped out Keeleon, destroy Balzak, and fought a shit-ton of Metal Babbles at this awesome crypt thing I found (but can't fully explore yet, due to not having, presumably, the Final Key.) Still, I fought enough Metal Babbles to get 4 Hats of Happiness (1 for each of my mage characters, and yay for restoring MP with every step), and to get everyone (even Ragnar) at or just under level 40.

Not bad for a few hours of gametime snuck in during home/work/home commutes. Tomorrow, I'll continue raiding more treasuries, and then (with the help you just gave me), re-explore the very first continent in the game. Woo. Z Shield, here I come.

Thanks for the PM about IRC. I'll install the software this weekend and teach myself the ropes. :)

Dropped?

No. Stolen. Taloon. Hey, he got his own game for a reason, right? I almost doubled my levels in that one room!

Either way...very nice/lucky, there. :lol
Once, and only once, I finally found out what Metal Kings drop, thanks to Taloon stealing (forgot he could).

Oooh, they'll be my next victims then! :)

Though, I dunno if anything can beat a helment with decent defense and MP healing...

I was dissapointed with the end of VII, I don't know why. I just felt like it should have gone on like 1 dungeon longer. Which, given the game's length, probably sounds strange =p.

I never did bother to level up enough to beat god in the optional dungeon, I was just too worn out with the game by that time lol.

Hey Red? I've got like 12 Small Medals so far (no Final Key yet), and was wondering what things I should buy with them. Obviously, I don't need the Hats of Happiness anymore. Does the Medal King only offer those 4 items the whole game? Are any of those items also alternately available as steals or drops? I don't want to waste any of my Small Medals on things I can find elsewhere.

Thanks.
