Wait, this is the spiritual successor of King Of Dragons?
more like D&D tower/mystara and that's a stretch too.

The preorder is supposed to go up on Steam with full details today.
I would love by some miracle for console progress to carry over. I want to play this on PC, but not from scratch. Don't have the time.
Even though I really like using magic and stuff, I rarely play as a Sorcerer because I'm more into close combat with swords etc. but this does looks great and tempting to play as a Sorcerer in one of my playthrough in the future.
Those videos and screens look damn good.
Does this game have dumb big swords like Monster Hunter's greatswords or Dark Souls' ultra greatswords?

I like the useless cast light spell of the Magic Archer but the last few skills you get as a standard Ranger are killer. The one that launches your arrow and you can control it just wipes entire boss bars off even on hard.
Has any PC game ever been able to read console saves? I know there's some stuff people have done with 360 saves in the past, but I thought that was all in the realm of modding.
One class, the Warrior, is essentially based on using dumb big swords and hammers. The crazier ones are like this:

Warrior uses 2H weapons, mostly swords. I don't really remember if they're particularily large, I know the basic ones are like "realistic" greatswords and stuff, so they're like very long but not very wide.

^ Hahahaha very good
Really looking forward to this, been a while since I've bought a game "at launch". Wonder what the price will be, even if it's €60 I'll pay... Take my money, naow!
Depends on the game, but due to some of the ports being really basic, yeah, actually (this doesn't look like a basic port though, from all the work that seems to have been put in). Still, give the game a month and I'm sure tables or mods will emerge that let you make your dream character in an hour or so. That's about how long it took for Dark Souls anyway and the sales are roughly comparable from reporting on consoles.Has any PC game ever been able to read console saves? One thing I'm curious about, how does this game handle multiple characters? Is it just a simple save system? I know the previous versions tied the characters to accounts and in order to have multiple characters I was creating multiple PS3 profiles. Don't want to do that again.

Is this anything like Dark Souls? Absolutely hated that game, overtly hard because of poor mechanics.

Wut?
and nah it's not like DS.
No

There's big difficulty spikes with bandits early on, but only early on. After that you'll probably be wishing for stronger foes. Endgame and Dark Arisen content deliver on that later.
lol ok kid
In this way, this game is the opposite of Dark Souls.
yeah could have used some more QTEs, and like, perks
So in other words, you couldn't beat it and blamed the game design?
I found the controls and hitboxes to be archaic by design.
See above, the game literally throws you in with zero explanation. I kept dying to the very first troll that was in the river, 5 minutes into the game.

I didn't mean it like that at all. As a newcomer to that style of game I found it incredibly frustrating, I quit after a few hours.

Probably my biggest concern. I didn't get far into it on PS3 because the game was a disaster technically but now that I can finally play it hearing warrior is the most boring class makes me feel bad tbh.

Additionally, the SoulsBorne series typically locks you into attack animations (which I fucking hate), whereas in Dragon's Dogma, you can cancel out of practically anything you're doing and change your mind -- you know, like an actual person can and does do.![]()
You do know all of that was intentional, right? Dark Souls is an homage to games of the past that made you overcome the mechanics or else you would fail.
Another big difference is that Dragon's Dogma lets you save anywhere, as long as you are not in the midst of an active battle.
You probably... almost certainly, don't need a gaming PC to make this game run. The MT Engine is highly optimized and I'm pretty sure this will run on even pretty old PCs.This makes me wish I had a gaming pc. Unfortunately that is not an option for me at the moment.
Oooooooohhh Dragon's Dogma preorder goodies!

As an owner of the Udon Design Works (which is what that cover is from) it's a bit more than an art book.Like an almost 400 page design document so I doubt that is it and will probably be a compilation of sort from that like they did for RE4.
Scratch that it bloody well is!

Digital art book – A complete replica of the Dragon’s Dogma Official Design Works. Over 300 pages of content after content that chronicles the development artwork behind this expansive setting including characters, lore, creatures, and weapon designs, plus rough sketches, key visuals, and plenty of creator commentary. A must-read for any Dragon’s Dogma fan! (Print edition also available on Amazon at $44.99)
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen Masterworks Collection - the awe-inspiring digital soundtrack contains 53 songs including a handful of alternate versions not included in the game. The 2+ hour soundtrack has been reauthored from the original source material, and the pre-purchase bonus includes both MP3 (320Kbps/16-bit/48KHz) and FLAC (24-bit/48KHz) lossless formats. (Total download size: 1.74GB)
I wish Capcom had the balls to name the game as it should've been named.
Breath of Fire 7
Yeah, no doubt. Some really great visual work done, especially with the monster designs.Totally worth a preorder for the Design Works itself.
seeing how there's no pre-order discount I aint preordering yet.
hopefully there's a mod to make THE WIND IS PUSHING ME every boss battle song
Have they said there would be a discount?

But things don't have to work like the real world. Locking you into actions is a very deliberate design decision, making you think and be absolutely sure before you commit to one or multiple actions. Like old school Castlevanias that's not a design flaw, but a design choice.

seriously tho, that kinda sucks. hopefully it's still buried in there somewhere and modders can recover it.
Yeah, not to mention that cancelling out of things is actually far less realistic, especially for a knight in armour.
