Don't really care either way, though they usually tend to work best on crust punks since they already have a generally dirty/disheveled appearance. It can definitely look cool on specific people, as is the case with most hairstyles.

My sister has been rockin her dreads for maybe 10 years or so? Starting off it was rough cause when you get them knotted and work well on em you lose a lot of length. Once they grew out they look great. She takes great care of them. Lives in the Virgin Islands for a lot of those years at this point so it's not really anything that stands out for her there.
Some people carry them really well and take care of them really well and they look great. Some do not and it can get especially ratty - doubly so if they end up wrapping them up most of the time.

I am not a fan of dreads of anyone really. Lauren Hill pulled it off though. As for on white people, I don't care I am not gonna scream appropriation partly cos I think the whole debate about it is misguided, but who knows maybe it might encourage more black women to wear their hair natural. I did match with one white girl ok tinder who had dreads, she was sexy beyond words and she pulled them off amazingly.

Yeah dreads, like any hair or beard combo, have nothing really to do with race. Some people can pull certain styles off, some cant. Some white dudes will look awesome with dreads, some will look terrible. Some black dudes good with dreads, some terrible. Etc. Etc.

It's just hair. You can have whatever hair style you want. I'm black and don't get offended when white people have dreads or cornrows. It's just hair, lot more important things to worry about. I'm not a fan of dreads at all though. I like to keep a classy nice haircut. Dreads don't look good to me, except I kind of like Future's dreads with the blonde in it. But he can pull it off since he's a millionaire and don't have to worry about anything.

Anyone can wear it, matted hair isn't exclusive to any race or culture since it has been known to be worn the world over throughout human history. The rastafarian movement popularised it and gave it the name dreadlocks and that's why it's pretty much exclusively called that today.
