isnt this the sequal to the game that had huge praise, but very little sales? and wasn't 2d background-based, and much better looking than this?

You know, if only they had technology to turn 2d illustrations straight into 3D environments Western dev games would start looking SO much better.

I don't think art is the problem anymore. I think the problem is shitty modellers. Maybe modellers have too much of a techie background and not enough of an art one or something? I dunno.

A lot of the problem is very few companies will actually shell out for a dedicated concept artist that will give a modeler a full set of orthographic sketches to work from.

You wouldn't believe how many games have little to no concept art.

seriously, if there were a polygon-based game that had the same graphical style as many games' concept art, i would buy it for the art alone.

I'm agreeing with the art vs. modeling thing here, though in this case I'm not so sure it's even modeling as it is the rather bland lighting. If any game is begging for over-use of a bloom shader it's freaking Dreamfall!!

The interior in particular looks pretty bland to me (and is weirdly modeled in some way I can't pinpoint). The outdoor shots, aside from the lighting aren't too bad though.
