Drinky-approved: forgotten Sony classics

Awesome rendition of Doom. Great music, colored lighting effects and revamped sounds. Creeeeeepy!

On top of the good games already mentioned:

Worms!

Namco Museums (back when they had a museum)

Tokyo Highway Battle

Die Hard Trilogy

VR Pro Pinball: The Web

Man I loved Philosoma... the whole integration of cut scene transitions to gameplay, the story, etc.... I'm gonna have to break it out some day because I still own it....

Wait- does Team Buddies have a parental warning? I was always under the impression that it was a kids' RTS. I had a kid come and ask me about it just before it released when I worked at Media Play. Maybe the Pal version was different.

Ah, Bushido Blade 2. A little part of me always weeps to think that there will likely never be a good follow up to it. Every time I play a Soul Caluibur or Samurai Shodown, I think that the swords should actually work like swords and injure or kill, not just remove a little bit of health.

I also want another Parasite Eve.

When I used to work at Radical our team would always play imports of Poy Poy, Bust a Move/Groove, and Tobal 2. Those were great days for the team really digging games and seening cool new techniques other games were using.

For some reason I can only think of two "forgotten" ones:

Also, these oldies collections are per-fucking-fection:

Smash TV was heaven. Although really, outside that, who cares. (Toobin? Nigga, please.)

Oh, so many fine games in this thread. I have to give a nod to the original Crash Bandicoot - it's easy to forget that the first game in this series, which came out in 1996, was a real challenge. Getting 100% was almost impossible.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 Crash Bandicoot games. The graphics was quite amazing for its time. I don't have any recollection about playing the third one though.

Tobal 2 and Parasite Eve 1 --> Playstation >>>>>> any other system from the past or future.
But then again there were games like Tomba 1 & 2, Pandemonium, Bishi Bashi Special, Bushido Blade 2, Bloody Roar 2 (the last good instalment of the series), Rival Schools, Smackdown 2 and many, many more which justified Sony's dominance over the gaming market back then and still do.

Anyone ever played Poy Poy 2? I wanted that to come over here as bad as anything else, but it never did. Did they improve on the original with that?

And how was the little quest mode in tobal 2? Was it actually interesting or did it feel tacked on like the devil within for tekken 5?

The Sega CD cases that the Saturn and PSX used did suck, but I wouldn't hold off on buying a game because of them! The only large case PSX game I have is Viewpoint...sticks out like a sort thumb on my PSX game rack.
No way! I have the one for RE and it kicks ass. It's covered with artwork all over, even on the insides. :D

Also, whoever posted Koudelka is insane. I finally got ahold of that one a few years ago and I was absolutely horrified by how bad how it was, within minutes of powering up the console. To think I had wanted to play that ever since it came out. :(

Kudos to whoever posted Bushido Blade 2... I don't remember the second one, but the first was a pretty good game; was playing it last nite w/my friend for some reason...

Almost forgot one:

I absolutely loved the battles in this game. I still don't give a shit what anybody says- this game was a lot more fun than Final Fantasy Tactics. The size of the battlefields alone in VH made it that much better.

So I take it this thread has moved past the whole early games part and just moved to best all around on PSone then? l

DUDE! WORD THE FUCK UP!

Sorry to get all Vanilla Ice, but I totally agree with you. BTW - is VHII worth checking out?

Streamlined TRPG, fun and even replayable. With the added bonus of absurd pixelated sprays of blood spewing out from each kill earning it an M.

Since we've ventured into import territory, I have to suggest the following:

PA.05439.001.jpg

Horizontal shooter. Proved the PS could do great 2D with ease way back when there were many doubters

ps_geppy_x01.jpg

4 disc horizontal shooter. Yes, 4 discs! Based on an entirely fictitious giant robot anime where each level was an episode. In between levels there are funny commercials promoting the made up anime with fake toys, shampoo, candy and just about every popular merchandising option in Japan. Brilliant idea and a lot of fun to play!

err... this is a dollar slot game, i assume you mean one of the Time Series shooters which are pretty funky?
