Driveclub PS Plus Edition Delayed by Server Issues

I didn't mean it that way. I thought it was actually bothering you, like outside of neogaf. I like debating stuff here as well. & I buy consoles for single games, so that wasn't a joke either. sorry for the shitposting tone.

No worries, I edited once I realized you had owned the game. It's just at this point, on GAF, this is the most interesting topic for me, it's the subject I'm most "involved" in I guess.

Haha, no, it's not bothering me outside of NeoGAF. While I type a lot it's mainly because I can type fast and I like to get my point across.

Or maybe it is you who should stop the bullshit way of thinking of everybody having some hidden agenda in their posting. The reality is the Driveclub launch has been a clusterfuck with serious issues affecting both the people who bought the full game (online features not working) and people who were promised the PS+ version with their PS+ subscription (still not here 2 weeks later after being pulled on release date, which itself is pretty unheard of!). These problems need to be discussed, and many people have been voicing their opinion on these matters and will continue to do so. Console wars bullshit is not needed.

Where am I saying that people have hidden agendas? Or anything about console wars? Like, what the fuck man. The post you quoted wasn't even in relation to Driveclub and was about Plus in general.

This hyperbolic rage that is on display by a decent amount of people in regards to this whole situation is just embarrassing though. And that has nothing to do with voicing one's opinion and complaining - please fucking do that (in a calm way, ideally). And I also never suggested that that should be suppressed. I myself have made complaints about the DC server situation and how it's impacting my playing of the game. But some of the entitlement, hostility, and all the other nonsense at play shows staggering levels of immaturity.

& those who understand network shit is complicated, this is only a game, and EVO aren't scam artists.

I think the fact there is no in-app-purchases like Forza, GT6, & The Crew also makes me kindly towards EVO.

Personally, I'm giving it a full month before I bother asking for a refund from SCE.

Nobody is accusing them of trying to scam anyone, and I do understand that their job is hard. I work for a large dev :)

That said, they are paid to make sure this stuff works, and it's their job to understand it. We are not talking amateurs making games from the good of their hearts. These are paid professionals who have shipped a broken product.

And it's possible to argue that the DLC packs they are releasing in future with more tracks and cars are not so different to in-app purchases.

I don't understand these posts. This studio is not your friend, it's a business. They made a non-working product, and consumers don't want to waste money on this product.

Because they are humans. We are not perfect. Shit happens. I make mistakes as well. I rectify the situation though and move on. I know the studio is not my friend, it is a business. They made great products in the past and had some issues making something new. Id rather they stay in business to keep making products I like. I know, shocking revelation.

1 mistake should not end an entire business, at least a mistake of this level. They missed up game launch, they did not come to my house and kick me in the face then shit in my mouth. Are you really such a fickle consumer, that after 1 mistake, you swear off a company forever?

I don't understand why people cant forgive other people for being human. That must be one hell of a perfect utopian society you're living in where nothing ever goes wrong. Mind if I come live there?

It's not the money I'm worried about, I've never stated I want my "money back". I'm just continuing the discussion on the matter and my point of view. Plus I bought PS+ on Amazon when this was announced, over a year ago ...

And why "move on"? This is just a discussion forum and this very specific thread relates to my interests right now. And I know you're trying to be "funny", but no, I didn't buy a PS4 for DC PS+ edition.

LOL! You describe yourself as the ultimate racer fan, then say that you have been banking on only the free version for a year?

That's silly! Either buy it and play now ( servers have been mostly solid for a week! ), or just wait patiently. Your post sounds like they have pulled the plug on the PS+ version all together, but it's simply been delayed! Relax a little dude. It's only video games!

If this really makes you want to bow out of PS all together, maybe you should. It sounds like it has been super stressful for you!

Really? I must be playing the wrong game then because the severs have fucking shitty. Again the it only video games thing, you do know we are on neogaf right where we talk about games right.

Shit post. Never said "ultimate racing fan". Said I love racing games. Mostly sims and this is a cross between them so I wanted to give it a shot.

Honestly, the bullshit "relax bro" posts all seem like they come from some high 15 year old. And I won't be renewing PS+, it doesn't offer me much, thanks for your concern #YOLO

I mean, this is a video game forum, should I not discuss video games?

To be fair "mostly solid" is kind of crap for a game that launched 2 weeks ago. But your point is taken.

Honestly how can anyone still trust sony after how terrible their online has been? I mean yeah it was good when I t was free because you could justify the screw ups. but now you are paying for a sub par system, and PS+ hhas been a bust for like the last 6 months. They should not only offer driveclub they should give up some ps4 games like killzone or knack to sweeten the deal. or maybe some free DLC for bloodborne I nthe future. I dunno bottom line I aint seeing 50 dollars worth of value from PS+ maybe 5 dollars at most.

Considering the situation and their enjoyment of racers, they probably just have personal standards. I doubt it's a matter of stress, I think it's probably a matter of just not caring anymore because so much has been botched about the release and the play experience so far.

It's a crap situation but this makes no sense unless it's sarcasm.

Yeah, they should probably just give us the whole version of Bloodborne. Those indie games aren't real games anyway. In real worth, Binding of Isaac maybe is worth about 33 cents, whereas Resogun is a 50 cent game at best.

LOL the servers have NOT been mostly solid for a week. Have you even tried a multiplayer race. If this is solid I wonder what bad must be like

Sony should extend everybody's PS+ sub by one month due to this.

That sounds fair to me, I don't understand when people play down the delay as something completely insignificant.

If Netflix announced the third season of House of Cards and everyone went to watch it on launch day and it wasn't there, then later on they just indefinitely delayed it people would be pissed.

If people bought tickets to the new star wars, showed up to the cinema and the film didn't play, or played with no sound and Fox said "we've had problems you'll be able to watch it soon" people would go nuts

Of course none of these things happened and they never would.
Games seem to be the only medium of entertainment where people find it totally acceptable to release a broken product or have delay something at the last minute before launch and it's totally acceptable to people.

Now I'm not annoyed about DriveClub, a little disappointed I haven't been able to try it maybe but Games company's need to show that this kind of incompetence isn't acceptable to them. A month of plus would be fine for that.

I have played about 15 races online and I was booted once ( and it was between races ). Didn't know people were still having that many issues.

I said "mostly solid" implying there were still issues ( no challenges still for one ! ), so responding as if I said they were rock solid is kinda silly

Sony should extend everybody's PS+ sub by one month due to this.

considering all the odd network behavior around friends, notifications etc recently I think they should.

As it was mentioned I could deal with the goofy, unreliable service when it was free. I'm paying now though and I expect the service be better than it has been.

PS+ is still the best value in console gaming, don't know what you're on about.

Driveclub is software that runs on code. Software and networking is sometimes buggy. Go figure. Movies are not software.

"This is only a game." Wrong. That's oversimplifying it. It's a product and a service that Evo committed to release. I don't think most people suspect them of being scam artists, but rather vastly incompetent. You don't get away with releasing subpar products under the guise of "this is a game!"
Driveclub is software that runs on code. Software and networking is sometimes buggy. Go figure. Movies are not software.
I guess I missed the part of business where difficulty in the nature of an industry is an excuse for releasing a broken product.

Agreed, but people in here are getting upset that they haven't gotten the PS+ version of the game. A little more perspective is required.

From whose part? Because "The PS+ Edition will launch the day of the retail release" was trumpeted by Sony from the rooftops since the announcement of the actual game. Whether or not it's a "free game" doesn't change anything.

People have every right to be upset about the PS+ edition still not being out a full two weeks after the game's release, whether some of you like it or not.

Driveclub is software that runs on code. Software and networking is sometimes buggy. Go figure. Movies are not software.

If games release broken it impacts sales and people get upset. Go figure.

Are we really going to try to argue that this reaction is the fault of the audience? Go look at all the other botched launches and see how they affected their sales, and see if developers are on as high a horse as some of you are.

The disdain that some consumers have for other consumers is both strange and maddening. I'll never understand people who get mad at others who want what they paid for. I subscribed to a service and a part of what I was told I would receive in exchange for my subscription has not been given to me. Why shouldn't that upset me?

Because you mean, inconsiderate consumer! Software is hard!

I'm sure the visual effects on Star Wars are complicated and sometimes buggy but I don't think they'll release the film like that and say "We'll patch them to look right for the dvd"

EDIT:at least not now Lucas isn't in charge!

And, I just came here to see if the PS plus version is available yet. I guess not I'll just play lots of other backlog games until it comes out. Seems like the game that is out isn't that great. Is there any reason that so many people are talking about this game or is it that it's just been a while since a racing game has come out?

On PS4 I think Need for Speed last year is the only one?

PS+ is still the best value in console gaming, don't know what you're on about.

I have a PS4 and I know for a fact that PS+ isn't the best value. At best right now it's a joke, between all the down times, crappie games they give us and now this it's just abysmal. Now I did buy the full game but I feelike bad for people that bought a sub just to try this game and are now getting screwed.

There is a big difference between comparing the PS+ edition delay to BF4, D3, Sim City, etc.

Those other games were paid products. And you could only play them online. Granted, this situation is murky, because you are going to have people claim that they bought PS+ only because they would get DC for free.

But to those people I say...PS+ is $50, why wouldn't you just buy DC itself at that point? If that's the sole reason you signed up for the service.

However, I don't think you can directly compare this launch and the amount of shit it's getting, to the launch and amount of shit Sim City, BF4, and D3 received. I'm not defending the DC launch though. Shit needs to be rectified. I'm just saying you can't compare it to those other games.

Yeah my battlefield game took about 6 months to fully work. And I still done have a single player save that worked.
So DC is about 5 months ahead of that!!

On PS4 I think Need for Speed last year is the only one?
I think I can see why some people are upset, but there's plenty of other games out there. I mean technically people that have PS4s are still considered to be early adopters. So I would imagine some genres still aren't flesh out with good games yet. So we get halfass games like this.

I guess I missed the part of business where difficulty in the nature of an industry is an excuse for releasing a broken product.

It doesn't excuse them, all I'm saying is it's the nature of software development. Sometimes there are bugs. They're working to fix it.

People have every right to be upset about the PS+ edition still not being out a full two weeks after the game's release, whether some of you like it or not.

I didn't say anything about consumers not having the right to be upset. They can if they want to be, I really don't care. I bought the game, played it for a while, decided to wait until the issue is resolved before I pick it up again. I guess I just have more patience than some.

Oh come on. Buggy is fine. Most games have the odd bug.

This is slightly different.

I'm sure the visual effects on Star Wars are complicated and sometimes buggy but I don't think they'll release the film like that and say "We'll patch them in for the dvd"
The difference being that consumers don't watch in progress versions of films. Films are finalized before people get to see them. The final versions at theaters are hard files that are being read, there is no room for a film to be buggy when viewing it, unless there's a hardware issue with the equipment running it. And in a perfect world all games would be like that too, but it's just not the way it is because software running code has a lot more room for shit to go wrong. Again, the nature of software development. The comparison to movies "being buggy" doesn't work.

I agree. I feel really stupid for buying the season pass. I'm sure the game will eventually work but if i knew the game would have the problems it has now, i would have never bought it.

I'm almost done with the career mode and want to play online with friends but every time we try, it either crashes after waiting like 5 minutes for the shit to sync or when it works, it takes a lot of time before we set one game. It's totally annoying and i can't believe Sony hasn't done much to solve this issue related to a first party game.

I hate to compare consoles and services but Xbox Live is just way way better. Forza Horizon 2 for example plays like a dream and it's super easy to connect to a game.

I never said "free game", so I hope those quotes aren't for me.

I'm saying some posters in this thread are far too upset that the the PS+ version of Driveclub has been delayed. Are you one of them?

You took a condescending tone of "software being buggy sometimes". You already know that this is beyond your standard bugs that occur in games. And no need to continue the condescension that you're "more patient than some". It's not about whether you personally have enough patience to pay full price for a game and then have to wait for 2 more weeks because the game's launch is botched. Congrats to you on that. But don't come into the thread and pass this off as run-of-the-mill launch bugs because that just simply isn't the case.

I never said "free game", so I hope those quotes aren't for me.

The "free game" part is the typical go-to defense of the people poking fun at those upset at the PS+ Edition's absence. "Bu- bu- bu- it's a free/bonus game you have no right to be upset". Apologies if I jumped the gun on that one.

I'm not upset enough to actively wish the devs close down, but I'm definitely ticked off that it's taking this ridiculously long to even fix the full version of the game. I don't think anybody is at fault for feeling upset at that.

We're posting on a thread about the subject. No one's here calling for death threats or something. Maybe it's not people being too upset, but rather you are being too much of an apologist.

I'm not wishing that Evo gets shut down, but if they do after this, I also can't in good faith say that it was unwarranted.

DriveClub have been such an odd embarrassment for Sony, that PS+ edition was their trump card for the launch of PS4 then a couple of delays later when they think they'll finally have it ready bam server issues.

it is gonna be funny seeing DriveClub PS+ edition end up in the November PS+ offerings, cause that's where it'll end up at this rate

At no point during my purchase of Driveclub was I informed that it was 'in progress'. Like I say, I accept bugs happen. I work for a well known dev and know the score.

This is a bit more serious than a couple of bugs, hence I'm more inclined to feel a bit peeved.

What qualifies as "far too upset" in your mind? Making nebulous and vast statements about ITT is really kind of lowbrow.

If it was 2 weeks out I think they would have posted something as that would get a lot of shit off their backs. I think it won't be here till 2015. The holidays will bring more new purchasers and more players due to being home to give extra load to the servers.

I'm going to say this will be a February 2015 PS+ offering. People will move on to Bloodborne and the holidays will be over which makes it the perfect time. They want to be able to get by with the servers they have, not add more, especially not for this game. That's just throwing good money after bad.

Has Sony said if we're getting it this week or not? This is getting a bit ridiculous now. It went from same day as the full version to like 2 weeks and still no word on its release. Wouldn't be a big deal if they weren't flaunting it so much

I think Sony/Evo thinks it's 2013. I'm expecting Nov. 15th.
