Driveclub PS Plus Edition Delayed by Server Issues

benny covered it, but yeah, you totally did.

Not cool. I can understand there's anger about everything that's happened, but that shouldn't be turned into calling for sacking or for Evo to be punished or closed down.

That's just poor form.

I don't believe people need to be fired. There are other ways to 'sanction' them, but this isn't something that people should even be thinking about,

I'm sure they already feel pretty bad as it is. Their brand new IP is now suffering significant damage in the minds of gamers and will only get worse the longer this continues. No need to punish them further.

No, it's really not the time for heads to roll. It's the time for gamers to accept that sometimes things happen that are even out of the developers control and they are working as hard as possible to fix it.

Just as you and others are angry, I'm sure they are just as angry at themselves over what's happening with the game. I can't imagine any scenario where they are currently happy with what's happening, why do they need to suffer further?

It helps no-one.

Hehe.

It's depressing to see a witch hunt against Evo. I really expected better. It's a bad situation, but it's not the end of the world and it's not like there isn't plenty more to play to pass the time.

They are angry at themselves? That's enough?

What happy la-la-land do you live in where consequences in the business world are dealt with just letting someone feel bad a bit about fucking up?

Nah, Evo fucked up.. and it's a high-profile fuck-up coming after a bomb of a game released previously.

These games cost real money to make, and in the end they are investments... when the investments don't pay off then studios close.

That's reality.

I don't know the financial reality of how Evo is doing right now.. where they sit with Sony and what the break even point is for DC.

If they are closed because of the failings of DC (which still, we don't know sales numbers) then it's completely on them.

If Sony closes them because it doesn't make financial sense, then it is what it is. I don't like people losing jobs, but you don't reward financial losses with further job security in the real world.

Come on people. The guy's job is to ensure the game releases on time, on budget, and without major issues. When that doesn't happen it's HIS fault, it doesn't really matter who within the company screwed up specifically because he oversaw all of those people.

Keeping a guy who can't be a good leader for a studio is what gets these studios into MAJOR trouble. Look at Crytek. Only difference at Crytek is that the guy owns the company and can only be fired by himself.

I'd much MUCH rather Sony fire the guy most responsible for the game than to blame it on the studio as a whole and close it down completely. Many more people will lose their job then.

How the fuck is Patrick Soderlund, the Exec VP of EA in charge of Battlefield, still employed then?

Actually I wish he'd not be at EA anymore, and instead get back to being a pro FIA GT race driver IMO.

And yeah, I'm with Nullpointer, I've said it in any thread that people say DC is dead in the water, what's the competition on ps4 for racing games?

What's a racing fan got to play right now? NFS:Rivals and MotoGP 14. That's it. The Crew in Dec.

DC sorts it's online aspects out, patches in weather and starts the DLC process and it'll be fine.

Someone said retail games only have a few weeks of people's interest. Ok.
But again, what choices are out there for 4 wheeled circuit racers on ps4?

Think a diehard racing fan will pass this up when everything's sorted to play a shooter or GTA to get a circuit racing fix?

I know in most PS+ DC threads I've read on here people start with "Not a racing fan, will try this". But I assure you there ARE racing game fans on the ps4. And like Nullpointer said, the thirst is real. pCARS pushed back to March, GT7 set to come god know's when, probably late 2016 or 2017. This still fits that void perfectly.

BF still sold really well. If the next game bombas then he'll probably see the door.

Also, not that it's the greatest indicator of anything.. but currently DC is the 43rd best selling PS4 game on Amazon. Behind Knack, the Lego Movie Game.. oh and Need for Speed Rivals.

Not a good start.

:edit forgot to mention on Amazon.com:

I think the game just came out? I'm not even going to ask you where you got your numbers:)

I swear I'd finished that sentence as Amazon... but no.. I didn't.. editted the post.

Well the game is $10 off with a PS+ subscription; seems like a huge portion of PS4 owners have PS+.

It's likely to be one of the higher "percent digital" games in console history for a dual retail/digital release due to that.

I think it's quite possible this game, it's delay, it's problems, and potentially low sales will hurt Evo's relationship with Sony; but I wouldn't consider amazon.com's listing as all that important or necessarily indicative of proof of low sales. For all we know this game sold gangbusters at that $50 PSN price.

Maybe it did.. but it's doubtful that it's selling shitty physical and gangbusters digital.

Then again, most of my friends who aren't on forums thought the whole game was supposed to be free with plus.. so I bet there's quite a few who don't get that whole aspect either.

Sure; I doubt it as well.. but it could be doing much better than it appears to be doing on amazon.

I think the release deserves criticism but I don't want it to fail; so perhaps I'm just being hopeful. But there is SOME logic to my hope lol.

Not doing much better on Gamestop either.

anything?? nothing?
wow.

i remember Tretton saying we would have drive club ps+ in the first year of ps4s life, they have about 2 more weeks to make good on that lol. i don't think its gonna happen at this rate. lol.

They had a status update on Facebook yesterday. It was all the same stuff. People asked where the PS+ version is, the Devs responded that they're working to get the base game working first. Who knows what is happening.

He said immediate access as soon as PS4 launches, so they kind of already missed that. The slide said within first year. I wonder if PS+ member satisfaction is still at 95%... I'm guessing not.

You know, I'm not even bothered about the game. I want to play it, but it has ceased to be the issue for me.

That being, that twice now, they have said something would be delivered for my subscription, and twice now, they have failed to deliver that. That is really, really bad form, and does not make me a happy customer. I have other games to play, but that isn't an excuse for them, just mitigation for me.

I would like to see a proper update from Sony on this, because frankly, they fucking owe their customers that at this point. Even if they don't know when it will be.

I have PS+ but make it a point to buy retail whenever possible. I never resell my games but don't like to be held hostage by digital services. I'm sure I'm in the minority, though, and most would be swayed by the lower price!

Sony's not getting my money for this, though, can't bring myself to support it. Second hand for me somewhere down the line.

Amazon US has the disc version for cheaper than the PS+ discount if anyone is interested in the physical copy. The game has pretty much bombed at amazon, falling into the mid 500s on the top sales charts, so this might just be the start of the price cutting.

Wow, that's not good. Expected, but not good.

It is really good. Things are getting much better on the online end. But I would guess 2 more weeks for the free version.
I've heard it's really good and the driving (the most important bit) is awesome but I just don't know how much I'd get out of it. So I guess I'm waiting for the PS+ version to test it :P

For those who seriously want a refund from Sony, they would have a better chance of succeeding with a class action lawsuit than a simple petition.

If you don't like racing games, you won't like this one. It's a racing game. And not a very good one at that right now.

Or just do what I did and call. They gave me a full refund.

Yeah just wait if your not a racing fan. And by then everything should be working to give you the full experience.
