Driveclub VR Confirmed for PlayStation VR, Out This Year

The problem I have with this is that it finally adds city tracks to the game and that the only way to be able to play them is in VR mode.
The only reason why there isn't an option to play this game as the original is to push VR, and I guess that's understandable.
Still hugely disappointing for me as I loved Driveclub and have no interest in VR at all.
Would it be so hard to do another DLC pack for the original game to include the new tracks for 15€ or something? :-/

Yeah that's exactly what I'm doing. Just dropping in to shit on your VR parade. SMH
Well that's exactly what you did when you didn't give any indication of what you were talking about. How do you know that we'll never get those tracks in a DLC pack? Also no one said it was a VR parade, but the title is literally Driveclub VR so your comment initially made zero sense.

Also, Driveclub VR was super fun when I played it last year, so you're missing out if you have "no interest in VR at all".

Virtual passenger: An immersive thrill ride through exciting replays of hot laps as players watch themselves handle their greatest challenges from a unique viewpoint in Passenger Mode.

It should have a Virtual Spectator mode as well, where you can stand at and switch between the trackside camera locations and watch replays or take in the environment. Maybe it would be possible to enable clouds/weather/day-night in this mode due to the fixed location.

I really like this idea! Would be cool to have like a fade-in fade-out swap between trackside areas as the cars approach that area.

A nice addition to this would be the ability to share replay data between users. People could post replays of their hot laps online, and then instead of just watching them, people could download them and ride along in virtual passenger mode.

I wonder how they'll handle crashes in VR - you could flip your car multiple times in the normal game but I should imagine that's gonna make you pewk in VR...

When you do a driveby shitpost instead of explaining yourself what do you expect? We're not mind readers. Smh indeed.

Also, the announcement of a standalone game in VR does not equal a negative announcement of no more dlc, nor does it mean Sony is forcing you to buy VR just for a couple of extra tracks. You jumped to that conclusion.

Just got an order cancellation email from amazon.fr claiming a pricing error and that they can't sell it at original price as that would be selling at a loss (which is illegal according to them)

Hrumph!

Digital Foundry: Hands-on with DriveClub VR
On the face of it, a racing game on PlayStation VR shouldn't stand a chance against a high-powered PC coupled with Oculus Rift or HTC Vive, but after playing DriveClub VR at Gamescom this week, our viewpoint has shifted. Simply put - this is the most immersive racing game we've played in VR to date. From Assetto Corsa to Dirt Rally all the way to Project Cars, it's clear that the gorgeous visual design of the original DriveClub allows the game to stand above its more technically demanding peers. It's a classic case of software design triumphing over hardware limitations.
Very interesting read, and it does talk about limitations of the hardware, so it's not all praise.

EDIT: oh, somehow thought this was new, but it wasn't mentioned before, so it is still valid.
