I'm sure this has been asked before, but I did a search and really couldn't find the answer.

I'm pretty sure of Nintendo's policy with dead pixels. (They give you a new ds, right?)
But will I be able to make a transfer at the store where I bought it?

Specifically, for Canadian residents, how have people's experiences been with Future Shop?

In the US, you call Nintendo, they take your credit card info, they send you a brand new DS, you get the new DS, ship your defective one, and they get it back and don't charge your card.

When I bought my DS @ futureshop, they suggested that I contact nintendo directly if there were any minor defects with my unit.

At launch I had one dead pixel, called and sent it to Nintendo and got a new dead-pixel free DS in a week.

Uh, don't lie.
Don't be afraid of the DS touch screen. It is durable. Try to wipe the screen. Sometimes it looks like scratches, but its not.
If it's really bad they'll take scratches too, I'm quite sure.

I tried wiping it off, and most of the blemishes came off, but I've still got some vertical streaks that are clearly from Meteos.

When I saw that my DS had a dead pixel, I just used the exchange program NoA set up with Costco. :O

dropped the DS off at costco on a thursday, got a brand new DS in the mail on Tuesday (and the DS was being shipped to the New York repair center from Minneapolis. It's not like the repair center was right here or something).

Excellent service, and it was free to boot (except for the packaging materials)

try cleaning it with cd wipes. I dunno, do you expect a touch screen to be scratch free forever? I'm not even sure If I have scratches or not, Its kind of dirty all the time. can still see it fine.

My US launch DS came with 1 dead pixel. I sent it to NoA, and within 3 days, I had a completely new replacement. Even threw in an extra stylus for my troubles. Needless to say, I was pleased as punch.

Edit - You can purchase upper screen replacements from NoA's online store for $3.95. Lower screens, however, are not swapable. (I imagine that the upper screen replacement process is quite easy, as I've ordered a screen and swapped it on my original GBA years ago.)

Just a good guess from basic dealing with Nintendo. SP gone through the wash and another stepped on fully replaced. More than a year after purchase.
If it's gotten excessively damaged from use, I can't imagine why not. Although it doesn't hurt to fucking call either.
Are we talking about full out "OMG it's fucked" scratches like those seen at your local Wal-Mart or "I'm being a pansy ass twat and complaining about scratches you can only see under light, with the unit off and it might be a hair but I'm not gonna touch the screen omg omg omg I wet myself" scratches?
I mean I've handed my DS to some fucking idiots and it's come back fine. If you see marks, wipe them away. I don't have a single fucking gouge or scratch on my screen, so my unprofessional advice is, if yours scratched easily, it's messed up, call Nintendo, talk to them, send it back and get your new one. It'll only take some effort and worse case you don't get one. But I'm confident you will.
