Perhaps this is what Folder was talking about...

The new Japanese Dictionary software for DS, Rakubiki Jiten, features a calendar, calculator, notebook, world clock, alarm & timer as well as J->E, E->J and regular Japanese dictionaries. Pictochat is also included, and words from the dictionary can be sent in Pictochat.

Nintendo has also added some fun stuff though. There are some easter eggs in the dictionary part. For example, if you enter "Game Watch", you'll get a little surprise (apparently). I wonder what else is included.

I don't know specifics about the extra functionality - I hope the calendar will allow you to add entries like Outlook, though, or it doesn't seem like a big win to me.

don't think Nintendo and M$ software would want to talk????
Probably refuse to speak to each other and start stating to one another that one was more superior than the other

Touch Japanese Dic Get!

This is exactly what I need. Is that Korean dic software out yet? I'm guessing it doesn't have all of these features..?

You don't need to talk to MS to make Windows software, fortunately ;) They already have some software for making videos for the Play Yan.

my only reason to get this would be for contacts (assuming it has that ability), but im already using the ipod for that.

Nintendo really should just go full blown with this, and throw in a web browser and seal the deal, not just for me, but for everyone. throw in AIM, and you have a killer app world wide.

Yeah but Nintendo didn't write MediaStage, Panasonic (or a Panasonic contractor) did. Regardless, it shouldn't be that hard to code up.

I was really upset the DS didn't have typical PDA applications built in. I would carry it around a lot more if I could write notes/birthdays/phone numbers/emails. Hopefully this will fix it right up. And yeah, giving it AIM would make me a happy camper.

Keep in mind that Folder said that Nintendo is a Palm licensee. So no, this isn't what he was talking about.

... which is rather more amusing when you consider the fact that Palm is essentially dumping the Palm OS and replacing it with Linux and a fancy PalmOS-like interface.
