hereNintendo's DS has sold more then double Sony's PSP in Japan, and the two are neck-and-neck in the USA, but what about Europe? Well, we've just got our hands on the tabulated figures for all of Europe, statistics that demonstrate how each handheld is selling through the major territories.
The latest numbers make for some interesting reading. Although the PSP was released later and at a higher price point, it has made up some ground, yet has some way to go before it matches the DS for sales, with the Nintendo handheld retaining a lead of more then one million. Encouragingly, both handhelds have established enough of a userbase to be here for quite some time.
Anyway, the figures:
PSP (released: September 2005)
* UK: 795,000
* France: 500,000
* Germany: 350,000
* Spain: 295,000
* Other Regions: 500,000
PSP total: 2,440,000
Nintendo DS (released: March 2005)
* United Kingdom: 1,000,000
* France: 750,000
* Germany: 520,000
* Spain: 425,000
* Other Regions: 1,005,000
DS total: 3,700,000
Should be an interesting topic.
