DS or PSP

Ok... break it down for me. I have the chance to get a DS now, or I could hold out for a PSP (but it would take some of my own money to do so). Also, Im going to Israel in January and wouldnt be able to play any games there unless I got a DS till I got back in may?

Is the difference between the DS and the PSP worth all this trouble... someone please tell me? Also, what games will be out for the DS by the end of Jan

These posts you guys make dont help the length of the thread at all... it just adds more BS to the discussion. I need to make a decision tonight (bday tomorrow) soooo PLEASE HELP

No one can answer that question. You need to get your hands on a PSP and play its games and experience its battery life before you can make any decision. Anything anyone tells you is going to be an uninformed opinion, i.e. useless crap.

It depends upon your tastes.

Both handhelds are going to have pretty shitty launch lineups, but which ever you think will end up housing the type of games or franchises you like you should go for.

There's also other things to consider, such as if you're a graphix whore, if you like innovation over the norm, if you're all about the 'coolness' factor, and if you prefer multi-media over straight gaming device.

Why are you even asking? You more than likely know what you want already.

Flip a coin. Heads DS, Tails PSP. If it lands on Head/Tails and you feel dissapointed, go with the other one.

PSP

+Current system level graphics
+Analog nub allows nice control of 3D games
+Only $200 (probably)
+Plays movies and music (I think)
+Couple good launch games
+Hot women will come to your house and want to have sex with you
+Available soon for importing (at a higher cost, no doubt)

-Battery life aint lookin' so hot right now.
-launches next year (probably in the springtime or around summer)
-Need a memory stick to save games (I think- and it means extra $$$)
-Can't play DVDs on the system, have to buy the movies again

DS

+Available NOW
+A couple decent launch titles
+Good pick-up-and-play games
+No extra accessories necessary
+Plays GBA games

-No analog control
-Not much coming out until next year
-Last gen level graphics
-Women will come to your house and take away the system. You'll never see it again.

I don't know if either system has any unique software worth justifying the hardware, but at least the DS makes your GBA games real purdy.

If graphics aren't important to you, then get a DS, but if they are, wait for PSP.

If GBA2 has dual analog control and GC level graphics I agree.

GBA2 has only one analog stick, does indeed have GC level graphics and will only have one screen. The single screen will also function as a touch screen, but will mostly be used for traversing menus and such. It'll have a remake of Luigi's Mansion as a debut title.

DS is out now. PSP doesn't hit Japan until December, and the U.S. sometime next year.

You'd have to wait for the PSP launch to get a real opinion. :P

Get a DS now and you'll be able to play tons of good GBA games as well. If you're going to another country, you'll also be able to buy and play GBA and DS games from there, plus the should have better battery life.

I'm betting on the PSP to be the killer portable system personally, but if I was about to leave for a long trip, I wouldn't hesitate to pick up a DS now.

Not much. There's the current games, then Rayman, Mr. Driller, Ridge Racer, Zoo Keeper, Tiger Woods, Ping Pals, and Sprung. After that it's going to be until February for Wario. DS software is going to be pretty light until summer/fall '05.

I would recommend getting the DS. I'm having lots of fun with it even with the few games that're out now.

By Jan?

Ridge Racer
Mario 64
Feel the Magic
Mr. Driller
Madden (I have it, pretty good time killer)
Tiger Woods
Zoo Keeper
Spiderman 2

imports:
Wario Ware DS
Band Brothers
Puyo Puyo Fever
One line puzzle

I'd think that would be enough to keep you busy?

If somebody loves you enough to buy you a DS...christ, take advantage.

I just bought a DS a couple hours ago and it's pretty cool so far...I too have the feeling that the PSP will be the bigger/better system all around but owning both systems is the way to go.

In summation..take advantage of the free DS and then buy a PSP next year with your own money.

Neither.
