There's two units in the household. I'll post about both of them.

Average daily usage
Each get about 2 hours of use a day. Possibly more.

Total estimated usage
Er... about 90 hours each? They've replaced the GBA/SP...

storage method
Wherever they've been left. Usually by the nightstand.

Additional protection
One's in a silk glasses case (also great for cleaning the screens without fear of scratching), and the other in an old MD bag.

Accidents + consequence
Other than being dropped, falling off a table, not much. Didn't damage it either.

Machine state
First DS unit was perfect upon purchase. Second DS had a dead pixel. Replaced that DS (was a fucking pain in the arse), and that one had TWO dead pixels. Finally was able to replace for a third DS that's perfect. Getting replacements was very very annoying.

I got mine for Xmas, Ive got the official Nintendo case, I play it about 2-3 hours a day (alot as a GBA).. purchase region is the US, total play is around 50 hours +, no accidents, dropage etc.. machine is perfect, except from time to time it wont recognize a GBA game.. so I have to power down and turn it back on.

My second unit has a grainy looking bottom screen and has little to no friction when using the stylus, and it's pretty much impossible to scratch.

I've been meaning to ask about this... Both of my units have that "Grainy" screen. Since both of them (plus the previous "dead pixel" units) had the same screen, I shrugged it off as some sort of screen protection... and play my GBA games on the top screen.

I will note that DS centric games (Feel the Magic/Kimishine) don't appear to have the "grainy" look during play. But if it's a white screen displayed on both screens the touchscreen looks darker...

Is this faulty I wonder? Do I have to go through that process again? Motherfuck.

Accidents + consequence - ran with it and bumped it real hard a few times on the subway. Resulted in a scratch on the touch screen. I think I may have had something else in that pocket. Key? :\

I have to say, I was really disappointed in those scratches from merely carrying it around in the same pocket I've put my GBA in many a time. I'm used to Nintendo products being much, much more durable than that. Also nonplussed at the dead pixel, but I play the system so little I probably won't bother getting it replaced ...
