Because it's like any new technology... low demand, and they're perfecting the process.

The amount of broken eggs in recordable dual-layer DVD discs is quite high, driving the cost of the good eggs up.

They started at $18 during summer and are down to $6. I've been told Oct 05 is when I can expect them to have fair price but I wonder if it will be too late with new format coming?

well it could be awhile till you see Burnable BRDVD or HDDVD drives in computers *shrug*

but yeah I have a Dual Layer burner and can't find any affordable dual layer media kinda sucks
