DUKE NUKEM FOREVER |OT| Spank One For The Good Guys

Really LTTP, but I just finished this tonight. Not a bad game but definitely some really irritating things in the game. The load times are completely unacceptable and where there are enough cheap deaths like DNF has, waiting ~20 seconds to reload gets annoying fast.

I got this for £11 after a GMG discount and just completed it. Wow, what a mess. There was a thread about a gaming equivalent of The Room, and this would be it. It's like a melting-pot of half-realised and unfinished (and in some cases unstarted) ideas.

Seems like all the jokes were collected together and put in the first (coincidentally the demo) level, the rest was just catchphrases and unintentionally funny moments of speech when Duke was shrunk. Only redeeming feature was Duke's giggles when he plays with an office computer.

Mechanics were bunk. I don't mind the limited weapon inventory, but having to reload was just stupid for this type of game.

The platforming was ok, but there were so many 'do I go here' *die* moments and that Shrunken Machine level was just atrocious in terms of platforming.

Nice cash cow for Gearbox though, now give us a real game.

I got the code for the map pack but I no longer have the game.

So first to quote this, if anyone even wants it, I'll PM you the code. For 360 btw.

DNF is 10$ on the Steam Store right now.

I think I'm gonna bite.

I'm considering it as well. My concern is not about the quality of the game, it's whether or not it will be cheaper by the time I play it. Hmm.

For $10 it's a decent enough game. Obviously no Duke 3D or Blood, but in a market flooded with boring, brown military shooters, you gotta take what's being offered if you want some oldschool humorous shooting.

Also have a key for Steam version DLC. Just gonna leave it in email tags. If you claim it you should probably reply so others know it's taken.

Fun sounding achievements! Cannot wait for the singleplayer DLC - if only Gearbox would wold add Spincycle and Duke Burger Classic maps to the multiplayer, along with more customisation options, I'd be very happy!

Just got the PS3 version for $18 off Amazon. I am LOVING this game. I was almost overwhelmed by everything around me. I spent so much time interacting with each environment and just goofing around. I love Duke's workout room and his museum. Great to see pictures of Duke 1 and 2 represented in the game. I also love all the little incidental music that rearranges the main theme (in Duke's suite, the elevator). So far it's a blast and I'm rolling through the casino in a R/C, which is surprisingly fun. This game has everything? What else could they put in this to make people happy?

I finally finished this off over last weekend and I have to say I liked it for the most part. It's rough around the edges and a little messy at times, but that's gotta be expected given the development history of the final product.

It wasn't brilliant, but I don't regret buying it day one and will certainly consider picking up the single player DLC when it comes out.

I was going to buy this for $10. I decided to wait. I can't bring myself to buy a game with forthcoming DLC when I have so much else to play and can probably get it all for one price later on.

I'm finding the new maps really well designed, and fun to play in. If only the weapons were also made available in single player. Cheers again for the donated code I was able to give to a friend!

DNF is still in one of my top 3 games of this tear in terms fun levels. I have sent in a few design ideas that I thought might have made the experience a bit better, and although no reply at all has been received, I hope there is some small chance they might have been seen and be considered for the singleplayer DLC/sequel.

All I *really* hope for now in multiplayer are more customisation options, and updates of SpinCycle and Classic Duke Burger (full size) maps.

So nice to get back into the old school deathmatch mentality Duke multiplayer brings.

Just beat the game. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Were some of the graphics ass? Yea but it wasn't a deal breaker.

Gameplay was fine for me and being able to interact with so many different objects was pretty cool(Pinball!).

I'm definitely looking forward to Gearbox's version of Duke.

Though, does anyone know if the single player DLC is still going to come out? I really hope so.

So. . . I think this is the relevant thread, didn't see any newer one.

I'm trying to do the Insane run for the Platinum, but I CANNOT get through the gdamn turret section on 'Crash Course.' This is nuts. I sort of liked the game up until this point.

I thought the Hive would be hell on Insanity since I had trouble there before on 'Hard', but I breezed through it. This turret section has turned into a brick wall for me, and I can't even remember it from my last run.

Any tips? It seems pretty straight forward, so I' not too sure what can be done differently. Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.
