So we have LOTR, and the chronicles of Narnia are coming soon...will ANYONE be attempting to make the Dune books into the majestic, sci-fi epics they deserve to be made into? I've seen the Sci-Fi channel's miniseries and it left alot to be desired. We need a Peter Jackson-type who will lovingly adapt these novels for the big screen. David Lynch need not apply.

Thoughts?

Fuck you playing at? The spice is the life. David Lynch version of Dune for life.

If you're interested, I remember a Dune movie that wasn't very good by John Kroop(?), 1976 or so.

That was probably the worst movie I've ever seen.

Yeah, some of the most amazing books I have ever read.. and they completely butchered them on screen. :/

I rather liked the Sci Fi version of the original Dune. I haven't read the book for almost a decade, but it seemed relatively faithful. I particularly liked the stage feeling that the miniseries had.

I never watched Children of Dune, but I never really liked what I read of the rest of the series. Heretics of Dune was particularly wretched.

The David Lynch version was crap. In my opinion anyway.

Sorry man, but Lynch's Dune rocked. Though I have to wonder what Jedi would have turned out if he had worked on that instead.

That's funny, I thought Heretics was damn good. I thought God Emperor was slow moving so the series picked up again with Heretics.

The first 3 books are great and it's no surprise to me that he was actually writing parts of books 2 and 3 before he even finished Dune. They all have the same feel to them. The later books aren't as good but still enjoyable.
