All I got for the Vernal Equinox was this stupid tag
Can I burn a DVD using DVD-R discs in a DVD+/-RW drive? My PC doesn't seem to recognize the DVD-Rs; it's got a builty-in drive, but this is the first time I've tried to use it for burning a DVD.

Sigh.............Yes. DVD-R means you can't copy over it later. Nothing more or less.

Are threads like this ever worth it?

Yes, you should be able to burn dvd-r with your drive. I'm not sure what might be causing the problem though. Perhaps the DVD-R brand isn't compatible with your drive? Just like CDs there are some brands which does work well with certain, and some not - but it's quite unlikely...

Tech support said I need to use DVD+R and DVD+RW discs only. So I'm going to buy a few and see what happens.

My main concern is that something is wrong with the drive, but I've been able to watch DVDs and burn CDRs without any problem. There's no way they'd be dumb enough to just give me a CDR-W/DVD drive only....right? ^_^;

Hmm. If your DVD RW drive says +/-, then you should be able to burn -Rs as well, and I find it's kinda unlikely... Strange, indeed.

Overseer, I'm VERY much a PC noob; always been a Mac user. This is my first PC. It's also the first computer I've owned with a DVD RW drive.

Are there drives that are only DVD+RW out there? Perhaps that's what I got and their web page when I ordered) had it listed wrong?
