I was all set on buying DD: Director's Cut until I read the IGN review.

First of all, they took out The Killing Moon from the intro. Fuck that.

Second, it seems as if they dumbed down the movie by adding a bunch of explanatory scenes.

I'll probably rent it, and if I don't mind the new stuff, I'll pick it up.

Prebought at suncoast! CANT WAIT!

How much is it at Suncoast? Bestbuy.com has it for 39.99, Amazon for 38, but I can't trust them to not fuck everything up in shipping(The first two season sets were all raped to hell, with two of the discs in each having slid out of place and gotten scratched beyond recognition when I ordered them from amazon.com last year). Plus, both sites had a very cheap price for Wonderfalls before it came out (like 22 dollars), but the day it was released, it went up to 30.

It'd be nice if the 4-5 dollar change in price didn't really make a difference to me.

I got Donnie Darko because of net word of mouth.
You net heads are tasteless for real that movie is a pure work of Shit and Bile!
I was waiting for the movie to pick up and it didn't worst ending of all time by the way, and many movies have shitty endings.

I think both versions stand out on their own, neither is poor by any standard. I like the new music added, it's a nice change as opposed to just a bunch of edits and additions.

Dude, I loved the ending. I think the ending is the best part of the movie, it pieces everything together and while it is a bit subtle, it's the perfect ending for such a movie.

It may not be your thing, but that doesn't mean it's shit. Maybe you would be better off watching the Fast and the Furious or some other crap that is action packed and cool d000de!

I caught it in theatres, it doesn't dumb anything down. The new scenes were enjoyable and flesh everything out a bit more. If you like the theatrical release as much as it sounds like you do, I'd say you're safe just picking it up.

I saw Donnie Darko director's cut in theatres, and it wasn't bad. It didn't necessarily dumb things down, but it made it so you know exactly what is happening. So, instead of looking on the website or dvd, or figuring it out on your own somehow, it just tells you. While it does take some of the fun out of it, the deleted scenes that are added in help show more personality for the characters and make a slightly fuller story. It's not the version you should watch if you haven't seen it before (it's fun to theorize what it's about, great when you watch it a second time, knowing all the stuff in the book, and realizing how it all fits together), but good for someone who's already a fan.

I guess I'll give it a shot then, if anything, I could always pick up the original as a companion piece considering its low price.

I'm still upset about The Killing Moon though. I love that song :(

I might buy the director's cut of Donnie Darko and The Motorcycle Diaries (great film). Also interested in Tae Guk Gi and Goodbye Dragon Inn although I cant see myself blind-buying them.

I really enjoyed Taegukgi; it does kinda lapse into Korean melodrama for a bit, but it's pretty well done this time around and the battle scenes are excellent. Personally, I enjoyed it more than Saving Private Ryan, which it's often compared to.
