Shameless ripoff of the week:

B0009KQP6Y.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

Check out this you-have-got-to-be-kidding-me synopsis:

Three college students leave their school worries behind for a camping weekend of fun. Their fun turns serious when the trio encounters a strange being in a remote cave. Days later, Forest Rangers discover the bodies of the three slain students in the forest. The crime scene is all too familiar to an unexplained creature attack from years ago that only left one survivor. The military sends out a rouge [sic] military unit to hunt the creature with the help of the only survivor of the previous attack, Kate (Megan Malloy) who has been confined to a mental institution since the horrific attack.

I've been collecting almost all of the Warner Bros. boxsets they've been coming out with lately, so I'll be adding the vol. 2 noir collection as well. Oh, and Monk S3 if I can find it.

I still haven't gotten around to buying the first Film Noir set, now another already? Ah, there's always birthday/Christmas.

another week with nothing worth buying. I think the whole month is like that, which is good cause i bought like 8 dvds in that deepdiscountdvd.com sale, so my wallet needs to catch up.

Return of the Joker's been out on DVD for at least a year now. What's the difference, or is this just a reissue?

There are two versions of the movie. Some scenes were cut out or reanimated to make the film less brutal. The original DVD release is the uncut version, to my understanding.

I just DVRed and watched this yesterday (the cut version, I think, it started appearing on HBO Family), not bad... but the bits where they recreated the old Batman timeline just suddenly stuck out as so much better than when they shifted back into the Beyond timeline. Still pretty good, though.
And the bit with Terry playing mind-games with the Joker was absolutely excellent. "Batman never talked to you much, did he?"

On a slightly related Batman question, I've been watching JLU (I know there's a topic, but I also know they've downloaded episodes a month ahead of the US airings, and have already been spoiled on one or two things coming up), but I missed a few episodes, and Batman went from being concerned about the Cadmus thing to completely missing, with no mention of him that I've seen recently. What did I miss that caused Batman to disappear? (It just didn't make sense that he wasn't immediately on their asses about
the cannon firing on the old Cadmus facility
. Even if he was angry with them or quit, he should've been on the communicator right afterward.)

Both the uncut and edited versions were in the original release, the unedited version coming with a huge banner across the top noting it. It's why I'm a little confused. Maybe this is just a reissue to cash in on the Batman money train.

Nah, the original DVD version was the sliced to shit version. And nobody who really wanted the movie liked or wanted it because the uncut version was leaked onto the internet just before the cut version came out. WB widely recognized the error of their ways, releasing the uncut version roughly a year later.

Batman is a JL part-timer, so while he's away I guess he's back in Gotham kicking Riddler's ass again or whatever. More to the point, it's damn hard trying to cover numerous characers and giving 'em all quality and meaningful time. So sometimes it's best to just ignore a Bats or Supes, to keep the episode focused. It's a mild spoiler of sorts, but you'll see Batman in the latter episodes.

I suppose you're right, but it just seemed like a really big event, and they showed some time afterward in that episode, with no mention of Bruce phoning in and yelling, "WTF CLARK!?" Which made me think something had been explained before as to why Batman picked such a bad time to be off-station when he knew things were ramping up.

And yeah, his future involvement was one of the spoilers I'd seen, although not in detail, thank goodness.
