I have a PC (I'm in the US) with a DVD+R. I also have DVDShrink. If I bought a PAL format DVD, Would my DVD+R be able to read it enough for DVDShrink to make a back-up? I heard that DVDShrink makes the DVDs no format or something.

See, I don't have a region free DVD player yet but I really wanna buy the Spaced and Danger 10,000 volts DVDs. I thought maybe untill I get a region free DVD player, DVDShrink would be able to make a backup I could watch.

Any thoughts? Would it work? Anyone try this?

DVD Shrink is not the problem. If your player does not convert PAL video to NTSC (some do, most don't), then it doesn't matter if you remove the region-coding. Xbox will convert if you have one of those.

Spaced is going to look like utter shit if you try to compress it on a DVD-5. Split these across two discs.

maybe I should just break down and order a region free player. I'm reluctant to do this because of shipping costs. I've never seen one at say, best buy or something.

You can easily find one at Best Buy or Wal-Mart. You just have to know the brand and manufacturer because most dvd players don't advertise on their boxes that they're region free and some players have to have their region free features unlocked.

CyberHome Compact Multiformat Progressive-Scan DVD Player

Only $40 at Best Buy, although I've seen it for as low as $25 in-store.

With no disc in the player, enter Menu-1-9 on the remote. A menu pops up allowing you to change the Region to whichever one you choose. Insert disc and enjoy movie.
